A pair of S10s just popped up on my local Craigslist. I'll probably go take a look at them this weekend in any event but was wondering how well-regarded (or not) they were. Tried the forum search but not much info was forthcoming.

Smart-assery aside I'm looking at stand-alone usage in a medium size bedroom and probably driving them with whatever 20-40W integrated amp (preferably vintage, e.g. NAD) I can get my hands on.

I know little about the S10 but for that price and what looks to be a pair in great shape,
with boxes and feet, seems one cant go wrong. Still laughing.

I think you should look for a pair of SDA 2a's or b's. They maybe entry level SDA's but they sound wonderful. Far better than S series or Monitor or RTA's

For about that price, you can pick up other vintage Polks. LS-50s, Monitor 7's, monitor 10's, sometimes some SDA 2a or 2b's. Keep looking. LS-70s will be a little more, as will other SDA models, but, probably worth it depending on what you want.

I have to agree with others. S10's are more of an entry level speaker compared to Monitor 10's or SDA2's.

I love how the ad states they are bookshelf speakers. That would be one heck of a bookshelf to hold those things. Aren't they almost 40inches tall?

I love how people write ads up.

I have a pair of S10's in my basement theater system. Have had them for 20 years! I agree with Dave, there are way better speakers for that amount of money.
