Anyone know anything about this sub? Would it be a good starter sub at this price? I broke the bank on my speaks and need to cut my teeth on something less expensive for now.

Hmm... that's a pretty good price on the Dayton. I think I found the model of the sub on CL.

Wish I could hear both. Hopefully the guy will e-mail me back and I can go have a listen tonight.

I was thinking Dayton too for low end, but didn't want to say anything as I don't know anything about the CV

Isn't the 10" Dayton the preferred one for overall use? Not as low, but tighter?

Thanks guys. I'm going to check it out Friday evening and will report back with pics and a quick review if I pick it up... which I'm thinking I will. Found some reviews. The model is "Sub-150".

Take some CD's with you that you're familiar with for listening.

I don't put much faith in those audioreview.com reviews, especially for lower-middle end products. Though I will read the lowest ratings because those sometimes have useful nuggets.

I bought the CW sub for $140 this evening and so far so good. I was pleasantly surprised with it's performance. It definately picked up where my 15's left off and added some pretty good punch. Still needs a good bit of tweaking, but the drywall is calling to be finished and will likely change all the acoustics anyway so I won't fiddle too much just yet.

You can see that I'm remodeling. Tore out all my paneling and putting up drywall. Equipment wise I've picked up the 15's, Sunfire 200x5 amp, Pioneer elite 84 and a pair of LC65fx in the last three weeks so I'm pretty stoked with everything. Can't wait to get it all put together. Daniel

Good on ya, try placing it a large floor tile or garden slate from your local nursery. Additionally, you can unscrew the stock 'feet', and spike it. Partsexpress sells some decent spikes for around $20 a set IIRC. Might also try removing the stock fill, and adding some Polyfill - there usually isn't near enough in brick and mortar subs. Adding more will make the sub act as if it's in a larger enclosure, which it probably needs - just don't block your ports (find at your local hobby / crafts store for $5 or so).

Just a couple cheap tweaks that will help you get the most out of that sub.

    Cheers,
    Russ

Looks like a great setup....get ready to breath drywall dust for 2 weeks.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Oh man, I thought long and hard about that and decided I'm hiring someone to come do the dirty work after I put up the drywall. That way it gets done in a couple of days instead of weeks saving my lungs from the torment.

Congrats. The sub looks to be in really good condition. Getting a large tile to put under it is a great idea.
