Gonna watch this one tonight. I'm hoping it'll be much better than No Country for Old Men.

Good flick. Predictable, he's a hitman! At least they don't cheese it up by trying to reinvent the genre.

Timothy Olyphant is a bit too pretty for the role but he does a good job. Fight scenes are good.

Action, fight scenes, shooting, stuff blows up, nudity. This movie is an automatic inductee into TNT's "movies for guys who like movies."

Watched it last night. It was a decent mindless action flick. Not sure why the hitman didn't nail the next Bond girl, though.

Meh, thought it was mediocre at best. Not quite enough going on, it seemed like they just wanted to string together silly action scenes. And horrible casting with Timothy Olyphant, who I usually like but not in this role.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

If you played the games, the movie made sense. The agents were raised by the church to be assassins... hence the reason he didn't sleep with the girl. He was very likely a virgin.

For a video-game-to-movie adaptation, not bad... but they needed to cover more of the backstory for it to make sense to non-gamers.

    OK, gotcha.

Yeah, I agree about casting Tim Olyphant. I think the bald head made him look goofy. It's not a look that any guy can pull off well.

having played the games, I though Jason Strathom would have made a better choice as the main guy...

Yep, this movie needed Jason Stathom.

Was ok for what it was, but could of been better from the Hitman role.

I agree that this was entertaining! Good looking woman with a few nice naked scenes, lots of stuff going boom, lots of action that keeps the movie moving along. I thought the DTS sound track could of been done better. The scene with the Russian Hind helo could of been recorded better.

Overall, a flick for guys that want to see sh$t go boom and have a little naked action thrown in for good measure.

I'm not sure if they were trying to set up a sequel at the end or not.

Maybe part of that training involved surgery to *ahem* become a eunich so that he couldn't be seduced, distracted, bribed and he'd make one very angry hitman.

I watched this last night and cannot agree that Olyphant was poorly cast, he played and fit the role very well.

This I cannot agree with either...
Yep, this movie needed Jason Stathom.
This guy makes some good comedic action movies but something more serious like Hitman would have not worked well with Stathom as the lead. He's movies are more over the top, laughable then serious action style films. I like his films but this is not a role for him.
    If...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent.

While I agree with Ron that Stathom would not have fit the Hitman role I also didn't care for the Olyphant guy either, from the VERY limited experience that I have with Hitman games I remember #47 being alittle more physically imposing guy, Olyphant seemed alittle to slight in size and as someone else mentioned alittle to pretty for the Hitman that I remember from the game. Not a terrible action movie but not one I'll be buying anytime soon either, unless Ron wants to sell me his copy on BD for $10. :D

Watched this one today; lots of boom and nonsense, some skin, just the way I like movies.

I thought the LFE in DTS was great; those shots were exagerated a bit and made a 9mm shake my couch as if it was a cannon. Cool.

Bought this the other day blind in one of those 1000 for $20 deals at Blockbusters and just got around to watching it and actually thought it kicked ****!!

Timothy Olyphant did an excellent job I thought. He is a little on the pretty side and I agree that Statham wouldve been better but he looked the part and pulled it off very well.

    ****Semi-Spoilers****

The thing I liked most about it was that he was always 1 step ahead of everybody else. Thats the way I like it. I hate when the "hero" goes most of the movie kicking everybody's **** then gets caught and nearly beaten to death then claws his way back and barely defeats the bad guy. F that! I like flicks like this and Bourne Identity where he just runs circles around them.

I also liked how he just killed mo-fo's. None of this getting to the bad guy, putting the gun to his head then saying "youre not worth it" or something and walking away. Not this dude! "What do you want me to do???" "Just one thing....BAM!" Hell yeah!

The ending was cool too. No love scene or anything - just him watching over her without her knowing it. Very cool!

    ****End of Spoilers****

All in all I thought this was a great movie and Ill definitely watch it again and go see the sequel if they have one.

I was really weirded out by that casting, after remembering him from The Girl Next Door.

But it worked. He's not that small. He did look weird bald, but he did well.

I bought it on BR when it came out. I liked it enough to watch it twice in a week. BUT iwouldn't call it a great movie. I'd rate it a weak 7 of 10.

I'm a Olyphant fan, because of "Deadwood" and another movie he did...I can't remember the name...it was about a chick needing money so she rips off a dealer(Olyphant)and ends up getting ran over in the parking lot at a Rave. It had three sub-stories in it. I think it was called "Go" or "Run".
