Looking at getting a pair of these locally for my brother-in-law. These would be his first Polks...I plan on getting him hooked.
Any 8T owners? Asking price is $150, but I'd like to get a great deal for him. Anybody know what a good price would be if they are actually in "like new" condition as stated?

Scroll to the bottom of the page.....ebay prices sold for a few years ago.The first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club -
I love older Polk's, but if you are going to go classic you gotta have the passive radiators.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

Yeah, been to polksda, but unfortunately all the auctions are 4 years old. Is there a way to search ebay for recent completed auctions? -

I like the classics with PRs too (owned SDA 2B, Monitor 5JR+, Monitor 7B), but I'm curious how these sound also? -
They sound really good. Surprising bass for a small floorstander and timbre match SDAs with the SL2000 closely.
Combo rig:
Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
PB13Ultra RO
BW Silvers
Oppo BDP-83SE -
As Ron has stated the bass is pretty good ported. I am bassing:D this on a couple monitor 4.6's I have had. Very punchy, and fast, but not as deep as a PR. The ports used are pretty small, and port velocity is high. The noise from the port is addable to a knowing ear. The entertaining thing was fast hard hits would throw a punch of air out at you. Not only this, but the air blast was directional according to frequency. I had them on stands, and at 3-4 feet they would hit me anywhere from my neck to my belly:DPlease. lol...sounds like a good time.
Is the port noise annoying or unbearable? Or is it simply you may hear a little noise if you really listen hard or up close? -
Port noise in the monitor 4.6's compared to any PR system was present. I'm a freak about noises, setup, etc... Hopefully someone else will chime in on this.
Edit
No one is going to say what is that noise coming from the speakers. Most audio nuts will pick it up.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. I second what Ben said above. Normal listeners will probably not pick it up but if you look for it you will here the huffing. I think that is why alot of manufacturers put the ports in the back of the speakers.
I have never heard RTA 8T's before so I don't have a point of reference on them but I prefer PR to ports anyday of the week. -
Excellent, thanks for the port noise heads-up guys.
Now, anybody seen selling prices on these lately? -
i havent found port noise to be much of an issue with monitor 4.6. i keep the grills in the closet where they belong, though, so interaction with them is a non-issue. i have a little definitive sub in my office that chugs pretty good on tracks with a lot of low bass. it is slot-ported to the rear, and at extreme settings is overbearing (noticeable) well before the amp starts limiting. it isnt a problem when it is set up correctly, as i couldnt stand those volumes for long (the polks are close, like 4'), and for damn sure wouldnt be getting any work done.
back to the topic, there are a pair of these local to me as well. somehow they are very appealing to me, and i am trying to fight the urge. these are immaculate, BTW.

$150 seems a little high Cameron. I think the $125ish would be in the neighborhood.
