I just bought the db212's, now i need the amp and head unit. i've got my eyes on the pioneer deh-p590ib, now the amp is an issue. I'm way short on cash, and i've been thinking about the kenwood kac-8103d or 8014d, but you guys think that would be enough. I sorta just need some help picking out a good quality, but still cheap amp. also, was thinkin about maybe the clarion apx1300, but thats a little too low on power

good choice! db212-2's are probably the best bang for the buck. we got them on clearance for $199. we have a kicker 500.1 amp hooked up to it and they sound amazing...

i did my research. My problem was crutchfield discontinued them, and then circuit city had them on a good sale, so i ordered them for 250. as far as amps go, i would love to get that kenwood. I'm lookin at sonic electronix for that, its 130, unless you guys know of a better place to get that kind of deal on? also, im new with car audio, but i'm really enthusiastic about it, so are there any basics on where or how to mount an amp. I drive a 2000 blazer, and those db212's take the whole width and half the depth. but still love them

now understand, I'm entirely new to car audio. question I have now is do fans make any audible noise for an amp? the one i'm lookin at is the kac-8104d which is fan cooled. I've never actually heard one so if you guys could tell me, it shouldnt be hard to get figured out. also curious, has anyone done a setup in a newer chevy blazer (98-04 body style)?

The Alpine Type-R's sound REALLY GOOD! I got two 10"s on Ebay for $194 Shipped from X-Sounds and they are great when it comes to issues and what you see is what you get as far as I can tell. I installed the two 10's in my Mustang powered by a PDX1000.1 and they are very tight plus drop very low. I have never been a fan of 12's but to each is own. All matching subs 10 versus 12 that I have heared the 10 has a bit more snap.

what i'm doin here is tryin to build a good system for as cheap as i can. i really like what I see on the kac-8104d or kac8103d since they are basically the same thing powering the db212's, and sonicelectronix has them for the low low price of only 130! which is the cheapest way to go unless i hit ebay, but by that time its worth paying 5 bucks more to get it from a sonic instead of an anonymous seller.

My sister's ex had 3 12" type-R's in his Blazer, each with a RF punch amp. While it was impressively tight for such a small box, loud and dropped low, I found the subs a tiny bit overrated. Still great though, just not the best.

Dont those DB212 take 400rms per sub?...The Kenwoods would only be 250 per sub.....Good luck with that Boss amp...you wont get near rated power from it....
