Pioneer avr problem

I have a lower-end (but decent) Pioneer avr from a few years ago that is having an "amp error" problem and shutting down intermittently. It appears that this particular model (vsx-d711) was notorious for this problem, and some have found that replacing the output transistors has fixed the problem.
I have no electronics repair/mod experience, but may be willing to try a repair on this one if it is not too involved/difficult. Can anybody start me in the right direction and tell me what an output transistor looks like and what I may need to do a project like this? Or, is this one better left to a professional?

I would leave it for a professional myself. to many things to go wrong if you don't know what you're doing.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

The more research I do (especially over at diyaudio), the more this looks out of my league and quite a hassle. Has anyone done this before?

Those are some PHAT transistors....it says so right on the transistors

Those are the trnasistors!? :eek: That doesn't look like much fun, but maybe easier than some of the other parts I was looking at. How do I tell which one is the "output" transistor?
