Best Polk tweeter?
Does anyone know what tweeter is considered the top of the line among all of the Polk series?
I was under the impression that the ring radiator tweeter was the highest end tweeter that Polk makes. http://www.polkaudio.com/education/tech_article.php?id=22
However, I see that the new VM series speakers, which based on price - looks to be pretty high end, use the aluminum tweeter.
(Ferro-Magnetic fluid-cooled 1 Aluminum Dome Tweeter creates excellent dispersion off-axis and high frequency accuracy. Ferro-Magnetic fluid ensures high reliability.)
Any thoughts on the matter will be appreciated.
Thanks.

It would be an interesting poll.
I would say the top contenders would be the
1 Vifa ring radiator as you have mentioned
2 RDO198
3 Peerless
4 The SRT tweeter from the extremely rare SRT systemPlease. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

Doubt you'll ever reach a consensus on this one ... better to at least throw in some criteria (budget would be a good starting point) if you want to reach some sort of conclusion or get some sort of general agreement to the response of your question. My HT

The Peerless does get a lot of love here, so do both the RDOs as Ben mentioned. Sorry skykeys, but I haven't seen a lot of favor in aluminum dome tweeters. They can be very detailed and clear, but I feel they are less musical than other materials; ie silk domes.
Just a side note: I was marveling last night about how the SL2000 is the visually ugliest tweeter ever made. -

Hi Zingo,
No need to apologize. I'm just curious as to what is considered the top tweeter technology of all the various Polk speakers. I probably should restate the question: what does Polk say is their top end tweeter?
I know that it is a very subjective question to ask everyone what tweeter they like best - although it's an equally interesting question to me.
To comment to you specifically about aluminium though, Paradigm speakers use an aluminum based tweeter, and I think they sound excellent. So it could be my ears only, or Paradigm's technology is unique. http://www.paradigm.com/en/reference/in_wall_in_ceiling-sa-series-2-6-14.paradigm

I know that's true with the SL2000s, but I took off the silver covers on my SL3000s and it didn't help at all! I also felt the cone was holding back the sound on my MV6510s, so I remove that too. Next I think I'll remove the "passive" from my passive radiators and the "olk udio" from my Polk Audio. That should clean up the sound. -

Good idea. Here's some pics for anyone that wants to try it.

It's funny how you show up the same month that jesse (f1nut) got banned and have his same attitude. Coincidence? -
It is a coincidence as he has nothing to do with F1Nut.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Hell no. He lives and breathes audio. He's also a vampire so he's probably out getting blood right now.
Personally, LSi tweet or the old RT line tweets.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
