Got my eye on some monitor 5's locally - I think they use the same driver as my 7's (MW6502) - one appears to be bad... are those easy to find and or buy??? Or should I just keep looking for ones with perfect drivers....

You can find used MW6502's for around $20 used. I am not sure if Polk has a replacement for them, but if they do it is $48. Why do you say the driver is bad? Any tests done? Is it frozen? Can you test it with an ohm meter?
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
    Ben

The dome is dented - just thought getting a replacement was easier than trying to fix it... but kind of a rookie - maybe thats an easy fix with the right tool.

Dents just add character, like a beard.

My current subwoofer has a huge dent in the dustcap(this is a sub I sold to my roommate years ago) and it pounds just fine.

Try some blue painters tape. Tear off about three inches of tape, make a tab on each end with about an inch of sticky in the middle. Lightly attach the tape to the dent and gently pull it out. Just don't use duct tape.

A dented dustcap is no reason to buy new drivers unless you really have some disposable income. It don't effect the sound; just looks not some pretty.
