First actual review I have seen for the Epik Conquest.

Secrets did a review of the Epik Conquest. While it did get high marks, the review itself was not up to the normal standards of Secrets imo.....

For those interested in this monster sub, keep in mind it is REALLY BIG. Also from the owner reviews I have read, it sounds best on its side (ports on the side rather than top or bottom) and crossed over at 60hz. - From what I can tell in the review, neither of these recommendations were followed.

Just thought you might be interested. If and when I actually build a dedicated theater - I hope to pick one of these up for it. (I plan to put my center channel on it.)

Michael
Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)

Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms)

It's a great sub, but not for me. As for the WAF (or lack of) that is a very big part of it. It's very industrial looking, and beastly for sure. But it be loud!!!!

That thing is a beast. Ive been reading many of the reviews, user comments etc on AVS. When I 1st saw comparison pics, that thing easily stands taller than some model floorspeakers. I'd love to try one, or two for that matter.

Before I bought my Ultra, I seriously (very seriously) considered this thing. But you see what I ended up with. :) I'm very pleased with my choice (the Ultra driver weighs in at nearly 60 lbs itself).

The Conquest is ranked one above the Ultra on Craigsub's list, but only by 3 points (in the HT category).

speakergeek, what finish did you get for your ultra? I'm pretty much decided on either a castle or a mfw-15 (duals), but I've given some consideration from time to time on the ultra. I've had my heart set on the castle for a while, but the finishes on some of the mfw's and the ultra's look pretty amazing, and performance wise they are all about the same (according to craigsub).

I went with the rosenut finish. It's lovely! One of the best veneer finishes I've seen.

Yeah, that finish looks amazing from the pics I've seen. I like the curved metallic grill as well. That unit looks (and I'm sure sounds) great!

That sub is ridiculous. I love bass, but damn!, the size of that thing is quite intimidating. You certainly need a huge room and an understanding WAF.
HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50” LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

The photos and the review are of the first rev Conquest. Chad improved the finish. It's now closer to the SVS plain jane finish, not totally smooth, but not bed liner. I can't see these making it to mainstream rooms, but they are selling, especially now that there's a backlog on the other models.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO
    BW Silvers
    Oppo BDP-83SE

I just love an 18" driver but that the actual testing could have been a little more thorough than a Radio Shack SPL meter. The chart is dubious based on that fact alone. When they get some quality sweeps, I'll take it more seriously. They parts look up to the task....

He'd buy them, say they were the best subs he's ever heard, one will blow up and he'll have a long and protracted repair publically posted on the forum, get them upgraded and rave about them again and sell them within 6 months claiming some ridiculous reason for doing so.

    That's why we love him.

I have a 15" Epik Valor sealed subwoofer and it is outstanding. It is very fast, musical and the driver can stop on a dime,Epik makes some really nice Subs.
