..............................

WOW!!!!

My son gave me this for Christmas but the Elusive Disc was out of stock it just arrived today.

I've listened to this recording 1000 times in my youth, sober, stoned, tripping, etc . . . NEVER has it sounded this great.

Pretty cheap too, $29.99

Sonics - Five Stars
Performance - Five Stars
Music (if you like Santana) - Five Stars
Vinyl - quiet as it comes
SDA showcase - Five Stars

Again I say WOW!

If you have a turntable and like Santana or even if you don't like Santana get this LP. If you don't like Santana you will after this one.

The percussion is pinpoint and thunderous, Santana's guitar just siiiinnnnnnnggggggggsss and wales beautifully.

I was so lost in the music that the stylus nailed the label. . .. but no harm done.

MUST HAVE!!!!

A great album! I've heard this many times, but not in recent years. I think I have it on a factory R2R. I got to dig that up.

    Thanks for sharing Joe!

It's always been a must have for me.
The sound is as different as anything I have ever heard.
I no longer have it on vinyl, but the cd is very good.
Not quite as good as vinyl, but they didn't hose it up
like many other titles were when they put it on cd.
I wonder sometimes about how badly the industry screwed up
the trasition. They seem to have been caught napping,
and ended up rushing stuff out in cd format.
Sounds like you have a keeper there!

    The SACD version is fantastic!

You are dead on about this. I have a "Best of" Santana CD that has awesome stuff on it including the studio version of Jingo and the Woodstock version of it and this CD sounds like it was recorded on a dictaphone.

Yes it is! I always hoped Santana's debut album would be re-issued on SACD.

Sorry Al when I did the search on Abraxas it didn't come up in the title of threads so I started what I thought was the first one.

But I must say this IS good enough to have two!!!

I was offended by something Ricardo did several years ago (although I can't remember what) so I'm not speaking to him...OR responding in his thread! Therefore I must post in this one.

Ha ha ha, Al was the first guy on this forum to get "The Clamp!!!!"

BTW I just listened to Abraxas again and my goodness how much better it sounded than the first time.

I have two sets of MIT Shotgun S3s burning in on my digital rigs and are almost at the required two week period. I'm burning them in for use in my vinyl rig and I can't wail till Saturday when they are done burning in to hear this record through them.
