If you like Santana (and you have a TT), get this record. A must have in my book.

All this talk of it has me getting reading to cue it up again. This is truly one of those LPs where you just get lost in the music and are transported to a great place.

Strange thing MFSL is releasing Abraxas on 24K gold cd this month.... AGAIN! They already put that disc out once, but now they seem to think they can make it even better with improved technology. Well, I have the first release they did on 24K gold, and it's incredible. I can't wait to get the new one and do some a/b'ing of MFSL Abraxas cd releases....

The vinyl should be out of this world!!!
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

I just ordered the Mofi gold CD of this album. Hopefully they did a good job. Some of us prefer to go old-school and haven't adopted the new-fangled technology of vinyl albums :o

Santana sucks. Ok, decent technically, maybe moreso than most - but the compositions themselves do NOTHING for me.

One trick pony, and it's not that good a trick.

    Cheers,
    Russ

I have, and I don't. YMMV of course. I think he's a hack personally, and even a nice pressing doesn't change Mr Ed into Seattle Slew.

Different strokes for different folks :)

I wouldn't rate Carlos and the gang as in my top 5 favorites, maybe not even in my top 10. I have however enjoyed most of his work over the years. I got to meet him years ago when my sister was a rep for BMG. He didn't seem pretentious at all.

That's funny Russ. I personally like Santana obviously more than you but frankly, I also agree he has reached a cult status the goes beyond his true musical writing and playing talent.
