What will your sister drive the speakers with? The JBL's are 8ohms. The Lsi15's are 4ohms and will do much better with a separate amp (personal experience).

Is your sister really into audio? Which ones can you get cheaper?
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I would suggest the JBL's out of these two loudspeakers do to the power requirements. You might check out the Polk Monitor or RTi series for a better sounding loudspeaker than the JBL. You should be able to find some excellent close-out prices on the older Polk series in Circuit City.

The 605's have no pre-outs to hook up a separate amp to drive the 15's. I would say go for the 890's due to power requirements even though the 15's are awesome. Listening to mine right now.
