need your thoughts please

I have an RTA 11T speakers. I'm currently designing my theater. I'm attaching a drawing which contains how I want to put my speakers. I'm going to make an empty space enough to accomodate the 11Ts. Am I correct that sound won't be affected since it's not ported, does not have port at the back?

I think it would work acoustically. Visually, it looks awesome! You would want to make sure that the front baffle of the speaker is at least flush with the wall so you don't get any diffraction. As far as the acoustics of putting them into "wall enclosures", some one will chime in. I don't think it would hurt, but I am not the expert on these things.

It might mess with some of the bottom end of the speaker but like Zingo said if you keep them flush you shouldn't get diffraction. Boy that was a long sentence.

The idea looks good on paper though.

Yes, it will affect the sound as they are now. It's like putting a speaker inside another box. The bass will probably be more boomy and you will lose both vertical and horizontal imaging compared to having them free standing out in the open.

Of course this is going to happen with just about any speaker you choose to place in an enclosed space. I understand the aesthetics, etc. but you will lose some of the great imaging these speakers were designed for.

Of course I'm speaking strictly from a music 2-channel POV. If it's primarily going to be used for multi channel HT the effects of putting the speakers in an enclosed space may not even be noticeable since you'll most likely have a sub and several other speakers in the room.

Actually you will get diffraction because with them being flush the entire wall on both sides become the baffle and the sound (highs primarily) will tend to travel along the baffle. That's one of the reasons these and other speakers are so narrow.

Just looked at the pic again and because they are raised off the ground you will lose a great deal of bass too. Again maybe not an issue if they are for HT only and you will be using a sub.

This will definitely be a problem enclosing the fronts as layed out.
I/we set up a huge HT system last year for a MAJOR company to be used as a "Lifelike" training and demo room.
Their engineer decided to Make the room pretty by doing the same thing by enclosing the front stage area. In doing so everything muddied up and actually made the sound horrible. The company complained about the sound and just by pulling the speakers out about 2 feet out of the "enclosure" it cleaned up immediately.
Being raised off the floor the powered fronts still lost bass
Your speaker enclosure will cause quite a few problems.
Their "engineer" was adamant about keeping his good looking room. We tried to address the issues with sound treatments but in the end the front stage enclosures were removed to bring the system back to life.

What about this? The width is 2 ft. Depth is 28" and height of the opening is 8 ft. Then I'll just have some black speaker cloth for that whole opening. My speakers will be protruding a little like 2 inches.

Also if you notice, I didn't remove the enclosure behind the screen. I really need an enclosure since it's for my IB subwoofer.

Ok guys, please let me know if this will work.
