My PSW10 hums

When I plug in the electrical outlet on my PSW10 subwoofer (with nothing else connected), I immediately notice a low hum. Even with the switch set to off. When I set it to on, the hum gets a little louder.
I only notice it when the room is silent, but it's kinda annoying.
What's the likely cause? Electrical noise over my lines? Or is it simply a bad sub?
Thanks.

Hello,
In all likelihood what you are hearing is called, "transformer lamination" noise caused by the building and collapsing magnetic field around the sub-woofer's AC transformer. This can be fairly common and doesn't indicate any problems with the unit. In fact it will become less noticeable after a few months of use. Usually it is sufficiently low in level as to not be heard unless your room is very quiet.
I hope this is helpful.
Regards, Ken
