I am planning on buying them for my Monitor 10's so I have one for back-up.

I am in the process of totally rebuilding a pair of Monitor 10's I bought back in 1980. I will post the pictures when done.

How much better are they, really, than the clear tweeters? I can understand they don't have that harsh resonance, but are they as crisp and detailed as the more rigid plastic domes?

YES, no doubt, but to each his/her own. With upgraded/updated crossovers they sound even better.

Q: are these SL 3000 series?? Mar-03-08
A: Hi, These tweeters were used before the sl2000 or the sl3000. My sl3000s in my RTA15TLs are brighter/more treble than my sl2000s which are a bit smoother and more natural sounding. I do believe these Peerless tweets are smoother than both my sl2000s and sl3000s but I cannot say as they have never been auditioned in the speakers, only tested with the leads from the speakers. I want to keep my POLK SDAs original along with my RTAs. Many Polkies swear by the sound of the Peerless. These were replacement for my sl2000s and sl3000s. I havent had a problem with my sl2000s or sl3000s and dont think I ever will. So here they are up for bids. These have been relisted because of a non-paying bidder. Thankyou for your interest. -
