Ok, I know this is a long shot, but we have almost 50 VHS tapes taking up space. Most of these were my wife's before we met. We never watch them anymore since going to HDTVs, so might as well get rid of them. Most have only been viewed a few times. All have the original sleeves or cases. I was thinking $40 shipped for the whole lot. I'll consider offers, but make it worth my time. I don't really want to deal with splitting up the lot. The movies are:

The Princess Bride, Swingers, Austin Powers: the Spy Who Shagged Me, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, Scream, Meatballs, Animal House, Fear, Now and Then, Mrs. Doubtfire, Uncle Buck, Nine Months, Top Gun, The Thomas Crown Affair, To Gillian on her 37th Birthday, Weekend at Bernie’s, Romeo and Juliet, The Crush, Fried Green Tomatoes, From Dusk till Dawn, Friday, Next Friday, Flashdance, Forrest Gump, Grease, Dumb and Dumber, Father of the Bride II, Thelma and Louise, Half Baked, There’s Something About Mary, The Goonies, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Meet the Parents, Throw Momma from the Train, Phenomenon, Adventures in Babysitting, Can’t Buy Me Love, Grumpy Old Men, Seven, Mannequin, Tommy Boy, Notting Hill, My Best Friends Wedding, Pretty Woman, (Not Pictured: The Wedding Singer, Fantasia, Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory)

Bill, just a thought, if you are inclined (as an option):

I am sure your taxman would approve too, not to mention your local hospital's children ward.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

That may be the next step, but I was thinking if anyone had a vacation house, a camper, or someplace without all the fancy electronics, they might be able to get some use out of these.

Donating them to a nursing home would also be great, that's what I did with mine and they really loved it. The older people there will lov ya. Good luck. Just a thought.

Ok, I'm starting to get the idea. If nobody wants them, in a couple weeks, I'll donate them.

Think the IRS would argue if I valued them at $10 apiece?

Only if you get a letter stating that you're being audited. Seriously, donate them and keep the VHS pollution out of the flea market.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I'm sure they cost at least $10 each back in the day...
Given the weak dollar and inflation, that may be equivalent to $20 of today's dollars ;)

Most likely, I'll use TurboTax's software to assign a value to them.

I have about a couple thousand of those I figure in my dad's estate. 4 were pre-recorded. The rest is A&E, History Channel, etc. He was insane. He was also a bachelor. I'm almost afraid to donate these to the local veteran's home. I'd hate to get some of those boys all dressed up with no place to go.

We have a bunch without much hope of ever seeing the inside of a vcr again. Donating them sounds like a good idea.

I actually won that tape off of a radio station promotion. Sadly, the tape was kinda effed up from the start and always had distortion in the top portion of the screen.

I have it on DVD now. Classic guys movie, and amazing considering the super low budget that the film was made with.
