Closet cleaning time, speaker wise.

I have two pairs of the legendary KLH Model 17 - both in good cosmetic and working order. $old TroyD / $old fatchowmein

I also have a pair of KLH Model 10 that are simply stunning for $old Dave Muell.

Additionally, a pair of Polk R50 in black, excellent condition, original owner / boxes / manual for $old dom.

I have some Altec 893a Corona, good condition, $old Dave Muell.

Next, Polk R10's in oak. Small 2-way floorstander from the original RT line. I started to remove the vinyl wrap on each to refinish and never completed the project - 100% functional - you finish the refinish. $40 local pickup.

How about some Def Tech DR7? Slim, two way floorstander. Good condition - lost a piano black end cap somewhere along the way - can be ordered from Def Tech for $70. $old sucks2beme.

Next, Genesis Genre III speakers - small 2 way floorstander with angled front baffle (think Thiel). Woofs need a refoam. Heavy, well made speaker. $50 local pickup.

Pics later, questions email me.

Cheers,
Russ

That's the issue Ricardo, I'm sick of looking at it. I have a two garage I can't get ONE car into. Shipping can be discussed if there is something someone absolutely cannot live without. That, and there are bills to pay, so if it hasn't been used recently, it's GONE.

    Cheers,
    Russ

KLH 10s aren't common -- indeed, I've never seen a pair in the, umm... flesh.

The Coronas (nothing to do with Paul Simon nor Julio) would be a nice acquisition opportunity that doesn't come along too often, as well.

Now, normally I don't regret not living in Texas...

I may want a couple sets of these, but I don't know anything about them. Can someone educate me on the KLH 10s and the Corona's?

Sealed boxes with large woofers and a very liquid, laid back sound. Great vocals.

You wouldn't be touring the Northeast again this season would you?

Somebody local drive over and pick-up those 10's. That is such a no-brainer price. Never seen a pair here either.

    You suck.

Sure, I'm going to Polkfest, but I'm not bringing DefTech towers as carry ons.

    Russ,
I have a vintage 1971 Kenwood KR-5150 (2x40w @ 8ohms) that I'd love to hook a vintage pair of speakers to (currently connected to RTi6's). Would you recommend the 17's? Would you recommend something else?
Do they still have the grill badge on them?
Will you be at Sami's on the 15th?

    Thx

You'd be hard pressed to find a sweeter sounding vintage speaker, and the 40 watts you've got is about all you want to throw at them anyway. No liquid cooled domes there.

fatchowmein - I forgot to update the thread, 2 pairs of the KLH have been spoken for. I thought the last pair of 17's were sold, but I'm waiting to hear back from a local buyer, so F him, and they are yours if you want them. Sami's will be fine for a swap.

On that note, I've got some AR2a's I'm pulling out today to sell too, but they'll be a little more pricey than the KLH.

    Cheers,
    Russ

    I'll take the 17's.

I see the AR2a's are 3 ways and are a bit difficult to drive (quick peak on google since I know little about vintage audio) so I'm assuming the 17's would be a better match for the 40W Kenwood?

    Thx, Russ

I am very interested in the AR2a's. Pictures wuold push me over the edge, and price, of course. PM me if you prefer.

Still want the 10's, so don't worry about that..

Get the AR-2a's. If they weren't so damn heavy and I didn't have a line on a pair of AR-5's, I'd be on them like a fat kid on a cupcake.

I've got some older speakers around here myself that I need to go thru and whittle down one of these days. Only a few I use and the others site idle and lonely....

The ones I'm listening to now in my office are a pair of Small Advents ran off of a Sansui AU-11000a (110wpc). Man, they sound good for what they are. I also have a pair of New Large Advents that would be in here (they are almost mint) except one tweeter is slightly louder than the other and it drives me nuts! :D
