Need help on sub set up (DSW 600)

I have the following system

Receiver: Denon 3808CI
Speakers: RTI-12 x 2, FXI-5 x 2, CSI-5 x 1 and a DSW Pro 600

The speaker wiring is not that complicated however I am having issues (or disappointments) with the subwoofer portion. I hooked i up per the book (sub out to LFE in) and I get very little response out of the sub. I tried a movie such as Saving Private Ryan, Batman Begins and music with a fair amount of base and hear absolutely nothing. I performed the automated spearker set up via the receiver and it recognizes the sub but when I test movies I get nothing. The AVR says SW - Yes

Frustration is getting the best of me. Any advice or has anyone experienced this.

I keep reading how much "punch" this sub has but can't say I've felt my bones rattle yet.

i had this problem at first you need to make sure your reciever know you have a sub hooked up. just check the differnt options on your reciever
If life had more tubes it would be a lot smoother.

I'm sure you have thought of this, but sometimes the obvious is overlooked. Are you sure you have the gain (volume) turned up far enough on the back of the sub?

Sounds like the front speakers are set to "large." Very common especially if you used the automatic mic setup and didn't tweak it afterwards. Try setting the front speakers to "small" and a crossover frequency on the receiver at 60 Hz or 80 Hz.

Or, if you prefer to set the front speakers to "large" make sure "LFE + MAIN" is enabled, otherwise most the bass will only go to the front speakers and not the sub.

Also, you are using a digital connection between your DVD player and receiver right, not just the analog (red, white) line level connections?

Thanks for all the feedback however I have my unit set up the way indicated and still nothing.

I set the Denon 3808CI to SW (subwoofer) = yes
There is no volume control on the back of the sub however the volume (blinking lights) indicate its at the higest level of 40
All speakers (front, center ad rear are set to small) and the crossover is at 80

However I only have a red, white and yellow line coming from the DVD player to the AVR. Would this be causing the issue ?

Make sure the subwoofer is actually working- plug a CD player's line (red and white) outputs directly into the subwoofer's red and white inputs. Start with the volume on the sub all the way down. Play a music CD with a good amount of bass. Turn up the volume slowly, it should be thumping away.

It might be easier to diagnose if you call our customer service line. 800-377-7655.

As for your hook up- if you're using yellow/white/red that's not the optimal connection. If you have a HDTV you want to use HDMI or a component video connection.

For the audio, use either HDMI, or a "digital" connection (either coax or optical).

    1) Are you able to boost the sub level at the reciever ? I would imagine yes, and If so try it.

    2) It does make a difference setting the front/center speakers to small. Having it set to large, diverts bass away from the sub and to the front/center.

My volume at the sub (boston acoustics) is at about 25%. My sub level at the reciever is at about 75-80%.

Took me alot of trial and error, some good advice on here, an just reading the dang manual. It worked though.

    Good luck.
