SOLD on Agon

Description:

This is your standard Rotel 5ch amp, it is a true 100wpc with a big transformer and it weighs 35lbs. No transformer noise, quiet through speakers, and it runs relatively cool. I bought this to replace my current surround amp but did so impulsively, and didn't realize that it was to big for my rack. I am the second owner and have only used it for about a week.

This amp looks to be in good condition. There are a few small marks on the tops and sides of the amp, notably a few on the left side. The face looks clean except for one small scratch in the upper left corner of the center.

Terms:

This will be double boxed and shipped insured in the original packaging. This comes with the unit, 14 gauge power cord, and manual. Accepting Paypal (add 1.5%), money order, or personal check. I will only sell to a buyer with verifiable good feedback. I have a feedback on Audiogon, Club Polk, Head-Fi, and Ebay. For sale in the US only.

No one needs a cool running 100wpc amp for their system? Anyone looking to step up from a receiver?

That's just the 5 channel version of the 980BX, right? If so, that thing would be wicked to use for bi-amping some LSi's and a have one left over for a center channel!

Yes? Not really sure as I don't know much about the 980, its a 2ch 110wpc amp right?

Actually it does bi-amp nicely, I ran it for a few days bi-amping my LSi7s, good stuff but overkill for that system.

The 980BX is 120wpc. I'm sure this one would do someone justice for their HT set up.

Thanks for the info F1nut. If someone was doing 7.1 I am sure something like a 980BX for the fronts and this for the rest would sound great.

    Now split shipping.

This might just be the opportunity I was looking for to step into separates. In order to bi-amp speakers, do both amps have to have the same output (watts/channel). i.e. if I were to bi-amp using this amp at 100w/ch and use my Sony AVR as the other amp at 80w/ch, does that work or would I be better off just adding an amp like this and letting it drive everything? What are the dimensions of the amp?

    According to the manual it is 17 3/8W x 5 1/2H x 15 5/8D and 34.1lbs.

As for bi-amping you need to make sure that the gains are the same for it to work properly, if not the highs will be played at a different level then the lows. Chances are the amp and receiver won't have the same amount of gain, which will make bi-amping very difficult. If you just use the amp to bi-amp then you know the gain will be the same across the board, and therefore you won't have to worry about trying to gain match. It could be done with the rcvr but would be difficult.

Thats a sweet amp. This would work great for someone wanting to power LSI's, or the bigger RTI's.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

....So, I could use this amp power the fronts, center and rears OR if I really wanted an upgrade, I could use it to bi-amp my RT3000's and power the CS1000, then use the AVR to power the Rear speakers? Checking my cabinet size now...

Yes, it should work fine either way. I used it to power 4 separate speakers for a week and a couple days bi-amping a set of LSi7s.

    Keep me posted

dpowell, I haven't heard back in a couple days...hows the cabinet size? You asked for the age before, I emailed the original buyer, it looks like this amp is about 7.5 years old.
