Looking for a pair of RT55is and a CS400i or similar at a great price, and maybe another set or two of RTis or close, hopefully locally or affordable after shipping. (if you happen to have something comperable in matched timber in another line, that would be about the same value, let me know as well..) (primarily for HT, so bookshelf speakers and a tight sup are preferable to me over floorstanding units)

Here's my sitch.

Long time polkie, just never used the site,(actually sold Polk as well for years in the early to mid 90s for the goodguys. west coasters remember them) Really regret not buying more as well as keeping what I did buy.

I'm finally back into a place/home where I can set up a real system. (been in studio's and small condos for a while due to business and moving/travel so a full fledged system just wasnt worth while.. Been living the "desktop theater" for a while now)

Setting up a basement home theater and trying to go quality on the cheap.. because for all intents and purpose, I'm starting from scratch as what stuff I have dates to the pre Dolby Digital days.. Also, the acoustics are, well... it's a basement!!! after I get some decent stuff setup, I'm gonna have a test of wills smoothing the acoustics of the low ceilinged cement walled L-shaped cavern.

Currently running a custom MediaPC (these I do well) and an 5.1 denon system @80wpc (really more like 65rms if that. to be quickly replaced, as in addition it has no digital ins and now preouts) and an old Pioneer 909 dvd/LD combo.. yeah.. you read that right LD, as in LaserDisc. And the only Polks I kept.. My RT7's. Just couldn't let those go.. one of the early Polk HT Subs psw50, which sucks, but I think I got it for free from polk for some sales thing, and a CS200 center that I dont even remember having ever purchased,.. but then again, i find alot of that stuff coming out of storage.. go figure...

Just installed a new HD projection system and 120inch screen, and guess what... yeah,.. non HD just doesnt cut it on that, and it BEGS.. no SCREAMS for decent audio..

I went shopping and checked out the usual suspects, CC/BB/VO/etc.. and just wasnt impressed with the midlines out there right now. Dont sound as nice as the older stuff to me.. probably just my bias and familiarity, but thats what it is. Also checked out some high end stuff, and really liked some of the higher end B&W stuff, but just cant stomach the cost and hw requirements to get that sound..... especially for my cave.. Maybey down the road... maybe. Maybe not.

So long story short... shoot.. I guess it's not short now.. Anyway, I'm looking to find a decent speaker setup that I can get for a great price that wont leave me dissapointed.. which for the most part IMHO means Polk RT or better RTi bookshelf speakers and a cs 350/400/i center, and (forgive me) a non polk
phase and delay adaptable tight sub. Also going to need a 7.1 dts etc. reciever with preouts or preamp/amp setup. And with everyone upgrading to hdmi, I should be able to find something nice and affordable.

It kills me remembering what I could get the top of the line Polks and Energy speakers for back then.... (There was a minimun of 60% of the price in markup, and I got 10% below cost on new.. better on demos.. so yeah,.. 2700.00 worth of speakers I got back well then for less than 1000. so speaker shopping for new stuff is just too painful. )

So if you have some older RT/RTis and a matching center laying around,.. that you are looking to let go.. ping me.. especially if you're local.

THX.
