I want to replace the wired in RCA leads and the grounding wire on my Pioneer PL-530 turntable.... but I haven't opened her up. So anyone do this on their TT before?

The leads are in good condition.. but since the wires are 30 yrs old.. i'm thinking replacing them would be a benefit of some kind.

if anyone has done this, please give me a idea of how involved it is.

I've thought about doing that myself on a couple of mine but haven't gotten around to it. I've read as long as you keep the leads the same length, it should be fine. I guess one could always add on some nice RCA binding posts to the back of the TT if space allows. The Pioneer PL-55X table I use in my office has female RCA connectors on it so I can use the cables I want to use. Pretty handy.

I used cardas tone arm wire. Solder the new to the old and use the old to pull the new through the tone arm. With as small a signal that a cartridge has seems like a good thing to do on an old TT.

I really wish my TT had those female RCA's on the back of it.. what a good idea on those tables that do have em.

I paid my tt mechanic $50 to do my technics sl-1800 using AQ king cobra cables. I couldn't do a side by side comparison but there was a difference although not as dramatic as I hoped. I need to confirm he soldered all 3 21 awg conductors which the king cobra has.
