I have a Onkyo 805 and 2 RTi10s, 4 FXi5s, and a PSW110, and was wondering is it better to use my old TA-N330ES 110 x 2 for the RTi10s or just leave them connected to the 805.

why not bi-amp? Or maybe i'm misunderstanding how bi-amping works"Dr Dunn admitted that his research could also be interpreted as evidence that women are shallower than men. Haven't thought about that, but the 805 is 130wpc and the 330 is 110wpc, so hook which one to high or low side.****Home Theater****

I'm sure its more to it than that...but I doubt if you'll blow em. Seems like the amp is less than the reciever but I would hook it up just to see.Retired Onkyo 520 (returned broken HK 247)

Try biamping them one way, and then switch the amps. Let your ears tell you which one is best. It doesn't really matter which ones goes where electrically, but one way might sound better.

Well there you go then. No need to even try it - (unless of course you plan to listen with your own ears rather than Jerrys'...) :rolleyes:Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)

I would like an explanation of your thoughts good sir. I'm not saying your right or wrong, just want to know why. -
I disagree. I'm bi-amping my RTi10's with the relatively weak Onkyo 605 and I definately noticed a difference between normal and bi-amped"Dr Dunn admitted that his research could also be interpreted as evidence that women are shallower than men. From Axiom Audio:
Will it sound any different if you biwire? Some users think it does, but I've never heard any differences, nor have any of our laboratory measurements or scientifically controlled double blind listening tests ever demonstrated there are audible differences. Axiom includes the extra terminals as a nod to those enthusiasts who believe that biwiring results in audible benefits and for the bi-ampers.
Bi-amping, or biamplification, is used mainly in professional sound reinforcement applications, where extremely high levels of loudness are required. Here big, separate amplifiers powering the low frequencies, and smaller amps for the midrange will increase overall output. Sometimes they will use a separate outboard electronic crossover (the speaker's internal crossover is disabled or bypassed entirely) so the operator can vary and adjust individual crossover frequencies, tailor the “slope” of the crossover to match the strengths of each set of drivers, and also adjust the relative sonic balance of bass, midrange and treble to suit the environment. This is important for huge auditoriums or outdoor events where separate arrays of treble and midrange horns are operating with big “bass bins,” but such systems have no place in domestic home theater systems in normal rooms. Additionally, it puts control of the relative smoothness and tonal balance into the hands of the sound system operator, a dangerous tool for all but the most experienced sound reinforcement experts. It also partly explains why the live sound at so many concert events (not all, mind you) is so awful.

So it is not even your own opinion you are stating as fact, but someone elses that you happened to read on the internet....Well there you go then. No need to even try it - (unless of course you plan to listen with your own ears rather than Jerrys'...)
I take it back - you cannot even guarantee those results with Jerrys ears...

Ok here is my experience with bi-amping I had my 12s for about a year now and I just set them up for a 2 channel system and using my cinenova grande decided to try it and to me it made a difference that even my wife noticedHome Theater sony 52 inch lcd,Cinenova grande 7 channel, polk RTI8,CSI5,FXI5,onkyo 805

Thanks for backing up your opinion and I respect that a lot.
However, I don't agree. Here are my thoughts on bi-amping. A lot of people go with the train of thought that more power to a speakers can make it sound better (louder without distortion, more dynamic, fuller, etc.) A 150wpc amp can sound very different than basically the same amp but 300wpc. Most people (and especially cfrizz) would chose the 300wpc version. If this is true, then two 150wpc amps would provide as much power a one 300wpc amp; and would cost a lot less. There could also be two other factors. One is that you may want to power the highs and lows with different amounts of power. Second, you may have one amp that you loves its highs, and another that you love its lows. Those two amps would be perfect to bi-amp a pair of speakers!
Axiom said that they ran lab tests and came up with the same results single and bi-amping. I am not discrediting this. However, I think that some aspects of audio equipment cannot really be measured in a lab (or yet anyway). It would appear that some speaker cables, interconnects, and even electronic components have no differences electronically. Yet, many would swear that they sound different. Some say it's just superstition or "crazy audiophile ear", but I truly think there is something there. Personally, I'm trusting my ears; because at the end of the day, it's not an oscilloscope or multimeter listening to my music, its me.
I hope this helps. -
I ended up using my two TA-N300ES amps bridged 300 WPC one for each Rti10 and man I was amazed, they sound and image so much better its as if they're not even the same speaker.****Home Theater****
