Visual C# help

Anyone know this stuff, I'm completely lost. Someone is working with me and made a program in this C#, He has sent the source files and I have a project file along others. I made a project of this file, but I can't do anything with it.


Sorry I'm completely green, any help you can give me would be appreciated.

Are you using the free version of Visual Studio? Did he develop it with the same version? Did you try to open his project or did you create your own and are trying to put in the source files?

He send me a link and indicated he was using the free version of 2005. I restarted program and it opened but still very green. I'm so lost is there a place I can go to learn this stuff.

I tell you this business stuff leads me into all kinds of stuff, never know where I'm going next.

Is there any solution file inside the folder? If not, copy his solution file from C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Projects folder to your folder or same location. Please let me know if this helps.
If you are adding his project to your solution, Right click on your project and add reference.

Can someone tell me about the free versions of Visual Studio and SQL Server? What are the main limitations of those products?

The MS SQL 2005 Express Edition is free, but is still pretty powerful. Here's the full feature comparison.

The Visual Studio Express Edition is similar.

SQL Express is good when you are dealing with smallish databases. That's what I'm using for our distributed test manager.
