Been frying turkeys for years!!! Peanut oil is a waste of money. Vegatable oil will taste exactly the same. Save your hard earned dollars to buy more Polk by using vegie oil instead.

The problem with 'Veg oil' and frying, at least LARGE turkeys, is the 'smoke point' of the oil.

Common veggie oil will smoke (burn) at around 325-350, Peanut (or Canola) oil will let you hit the 425-450 range. Those who cook know that extra virgin olive has the most flavor, but has the lowest ''smoke point" of all the oils, thus virtually rendering it useless for frying.
