Freight recommendations?

I was looking for some info for a friend of mine, neither of us has ever shipped anything freight. He has a set of weights near Tampa, Florida that he is looking to ship to Chicago. Any idea's on the best way to handle this? Thanks

    LTL freight is a very discount oriented business. You'll pay through the nose unless you ship through a company that already has an account. For example, I get a 62% discount from Roadway as a business. You'll pay full boat on a single shipment without an account, which is an absurd amount of money. I hate to say it, but it's probably not worth it.
