New Addition....A Turntable

I finally went out and got a turntable. A deal I couldn't resist. I know its only an entry level table but it spins my vinyl pretty good. No accesories to speak of...Clamp, Record Cleaner, Stat Gun. I fashioned a little isolation deck from some cones I had and a 1/2" thick piece of Corian. The thinest granite I have is 1 1/8" thick and I'm out of diamond blades. I'll build a better isolation deck as soon as I can get some more blades. But I'm liking this set-up right now.

Its a Project Debut III. And the store will give me 100% of the purchase price towards an upgrade if I do it within 1 year. I can keep upgrading as long I do it each time within the timeline of the deals. Next will be a VPI cleaner. This is so much fun for a Sunday.

Very nice! There's nothing like spinning some good vinyl is there? My collection of LP's has grown by 600+ in the last couple of years and that's just from the garage sales and thrift store runs. I've come across some great albums that I never had years ago.

Enjoy that TT....it's a nice one!

Hey Chuck, what store allows that trade in/up policy?
    Dodd - Battery Preamp
Monarchy Audio SE100 Delux - mono power amps
    Sony DVP-NS999ES - SACD player
    ADS 1230 - Polk SDA 2B
DIY Stereo Subwoofer towers w/(4) 12 drivers each
    Crown K1 - Subwoofer amp
    Outlaw ICBM - crossover
    Beringher BFD - sub eq

Where is the remote? Where is the $%#$% remote!

Russ...you and Troy were just there the other week. Audio Atlanta in Marietta, GA. One block over from The Marietta Pizza joint down on the square. I didn't ask about other equipment, but he came right out and told me I could keep upgrading my turntables and get 100% of my purchase amount applied to a new table if I return within one year. I can keep doing so until I top out in the turntables.....LOL.....as if!

BTW....That is how I got my first pair of SDA's. I used to buy most of my equipment from Hi-Fi Buys in Atlanta. I was able to start with a small pair of speakers and keep going back and trading up. They gave me back 100% of my purchase amount towards an upgrade. It took me about 1 1/2 years, but I made it up to SDA's.

Very nice. Set up correctly, that table will get you within 80% of the sound of ones costing 10 times the price, IMO. Plus, all the cool audiophiles have one....

One hell of an upgrade policy at that store!

Yeah, I may be a bit biased about the cool factor. Being completly subjective though on the comment about it's performance. I got the chance to listen to Joe's (hearingimpaired) rig a few weeks ago, it was my first taste of high end analog. Joe's set up had a much quieter, blacker background, bass extension was better (course he has those monster 1.2tl's drool), and there was more of a sense of air around the instruments. While it was absolutely jaw dropping, I was proud that my little $300 table sounded pretty damn close in comparison. When he told me what his cartridge was running for, I felt even better.

Curious which model Ortofon cartridge is mounted and whether it was a pre-mounted factory "package" or if your store recommended it. Ortofon make some giant killer cartridges.
