As much as we Polkies love our pets...

...how concerned should we be about our pets joining us for long, loud listening sessions? At this point Abby (see attached) is napping on my lap with BNL cranked, so I'm thinking it's not too loud, at least for her.

Any thoughts?

My furball camps out near me whenever I'm listening, no matter what the volume level is.

My Toy Fox Terrier, Bailey seeks me out during listening sessions. I don't know if it's the tunes, the company, or the Virginia peanuts - but she's my late night listening buddy.

My dogs don't seem to mind, although I don't crank it too loud for their sake and mine. They sleep through it most of the time when I listen in the late evening.

She's a Yorkie. I grew up with a Silver Silkie. I've had her about a month now. Sometimes the vibraphones will perk those ears up.

Beautiful dog. I have an 11 year old female Silky, so I'm partial to Silkys and Yorkies, as well as several other smaller breeds. Their ears are like little satellite dishes....when they hear something they rotate and adjust.....

I kick my dog out when I crank it too much.

Unfortunatley my Rott had to be put down a couple of months ago but even in his old age he appeared to hear fine.

Beautiful German Shep! Tony I agree completely!

Our pets are just as vunerable to our disieses & weaknesses as we are. That should also include hearing. Especially since it is 10 times more sensitive than ours is. If it is too loud for you, it is probably too loud for them as well.

My condolences to those of you who have lost your beloved pets.

Our little Charlie hangs out with us usually in my lap of curled up around me somewhere sleeping. Only problem so far is some sounds are so real, he jumps up barking and scares the crap out of me. ONce he runs around and sees everything is OK, he curls back up and back to sleep he goes. :D

This is when he was about 5 months old. He's 10 months old now. Never thought I'd like having a little dog like this, but it was for my daughter, and I'm now his best friend. :D They are incredible dogs. I hate to see his puppy black go, but he's just starting to get his adult blue coat.

I've noticed When I crank it up, my dog will eventually get up and leave the room. The cat doesn't stick around at all, and heads upstairs.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

Considering the serious question asked, the beautiful pictures of loved pets & comments on recently departed pets, I'd say your attempt at humor is misplaced & sick!

My mutt lays down right in front of one of my Plats, rolls on her back, and **** her ears towards the woofers. I'd say she likes her music. Loves bluegrass, not crazy about Vivaldi, (I guess the high strings don't agree with her) and hates the 1812 overture. She hates fireworks and thunder too, and the cannon shots are too much for her.

Yeah VC. The picture just rubs me the wrong way & I find it unfunny. And just how do you know that it is a bulldog? Seeing the picture of some dog's butt doesn't tell me that he is a bulldog much less that he is jammin to anything.

I have a pet rock. It just sits there and never complains..doesn't eat too much...doesn't bother me in the middle of the night...never makes any noise...always there for me. I like it. It really perks up when I play The Rolling Stones.

Seriously..my cats never seemed to mind my music..but I rarely CRANK it loud. Well..unless the corkscrew is busy that night...LOL

If you are offended by this pic, that is your choice. Don't look at. I find nothing offensive by it at all and do not think that was the intent of the post. There is nothing in this picture that one does not see every day walking down the street, and until they pass a law requiring dogs to wear pants, there is nothing obscene about it.

The type of dog it is, is irrelevant, would you be less offended by the same pic if was another type of dog? As a bulldog owner, I can say that it looks very much like a Bulldog behind. Since it is a still picture, it would be difficult to say that any person's or any dogs behind is jammin at all. The other pictures show the dogs rear end, why did you single out this pic?

I do think that you were out of line to call him a JERK for that picture and you do owe him an apology.
