My friends called SVS and was told that the cheapest SVS PB10-NSD was enough for his room which is about 18x10 with open eat-in kitchen and open hall (totaling to maybe 26x10 of open space). isn't PB10 like a "bedroom" subwoofer ?

If that's what SVS recommended then I'd say it's true then. SVS subs are very capable perfomers.

I would say that someone misunderstood someone and I would recomend that he call them back and pose the question again. He may have asked if their cheepest sub would work in his room... Who knows... but it seems alittle small to me given the size of the room.

SVS sales people are very knowledgeable about these things.

If the sales person said that the sub would be enough for your friend's room, then I would take the sales person's advice.

    SVS makes very capable subs.

Sounds like any choice from there would only be better eh? Enough is one thing. More than enough is better.

Well, if you have the money, by all means get a more expensive sub.

But remember, SVS subs are very capable, even their cheapest sub goes lower than other mainstream subs.

dont want to confuse anyone here.......my friend might be BSing about what SVS people said. thats why I am actually asking this question.

As far as i think, even if you dont want too much bass in your condo due to neighbors or something, and even if your room is small, aren't there other specs.(other then AMPS) that make a good subwoofer ?

All SVS subs are designed to provide the maximum amount of bass output that is possible at a particular price point. And this is why so many people love SVS subs.

No, I don't think your friend was exaggerating.

Not trying to feed potential SVS trolls, but they do tend to be honest about what subwoofer you need in your room and don't try to upsell you. When I bought my 20-39CS+, they told me I could get away with the non-plus model. I bought the + anyway. When they couldn't fill my order due to the drivers being back-ordered (back when they were using TC Sounds woofers), they made me a cut-rate deal on a flawless B-stock unit and threw in an ART-351 EQ for my trouble.

So if they tell you that sub will work, they're probably right. But that shouldn't stop you from getting something better if you have the money.
