Easy LP Frames I made for display

I thought I'd share my first round of making some LP display frames for in my office. I have a bunch of duplicate and triplicate LP's so I thought I would display them for room decor. They are very easy to make and I probably have less money in them than the ones you can pick up at Michaels or wherever that is. Plus, these are real wood and done like I like 'em. All it I used was some 1.5" X 6' lengths of red oak from Lowe's, some gloss black spray paint, and picture hangers. The frame is 15" square and the corners are all done at 45 degrees like a picture frame and are glued and nailed together. The section where the LP drops into the frame was dadoed in about a 1/4" all the way around and I drilled in angled holes from the front side of the frame for the small nails to hold the LP securely. The visible opening for the LP is 12" which gives about an 1/8" all the way around that keeps it in place. Also, it takes one single piece of the 6' to make one frame with a little scrap left over (that won't go to waste here...believe me)

I'm only showing pictures of the finished product here but as I'm making another dozen or so, I'll have pictures of the process along the way and will post them here. (I have 3 done so far) I also thought about getting some 1/8" plexi or lexan if it's economical enough for covering the front sides. Might check on that when I'm out today getting more wood for more frames plus other projects during my 5 day vacation.

Pretty cool, huh?
