Oppo DV-981HD - Bookmark doesn't work/no autooff

Does anyone have a Oppo DV-981HD that could me with this?

No matter what I try on the Oppo DV-981HD with the bookmark feature it will not resume back to my dvd position after the player is power off then back on. I had a panasonic dvd player that was 4 years old that could simply start back where I left off even after a power down.

Also I can't believe there is no auto-off feature for the Oppo DV-981HD. Turning the player off after so many hours of nonuse seem like the most basic feature I can think of besides actually playing a dvd. Is mine broken?

What do you expect for $180.00 or whatever it costs?

Anyway, call Oppo, they have a very good customer service department.

Hmm, considering $180 is about double what a lot of DVD players cost, i guess I expected too much. I will call their customer service and hopefully they can tell me Im just slow to learn how to use their product.

I really do like the picture quality of their player and that is why I decided to purchase it but another thing that bothers me is that the lettering on the remote is very tiny and of course the buttons don't have backlighting.

People don't buy a maserati for the amount of cup holders so in this situation I'll assume they put all their money into the dvd picture and sound playback quality without a lot of bells and whistles.

On the other hand, it's pennies on the dollar compared to a lot of other players. ;)

    Bill,

Please tell me your remote has buttons with a backlight and the unit powers off after a reasonable time.

No backlight, but I use a harmony anyway...It does power off after about 15 minutes though...

I called oppo customer service and they confirmed there is no auto off feature with the 981. You can get the player to remember where you stopped play but hitting eject button and quickly pressing power button. The dvd will stay in the player, the player powers off and will resume exactly where you left off at the next power-on.
