Ok guys, i've been holding off, but now I gots ta git me one!

I have $275 in Dell gift cards and can buy an Xbox through them. Of course there will be more out of pocket money. So, what should I be looking for? This is going in my HT setup with 36" TV (S-video being best input).

What Xbox unit should I look at?
What extra controllers are best?
Xbox live?
Headphones with mic?
Anything else?

COD4 is my game of choice. Right now, I don't care about any others.

Thanks all and hope to see ya'll online.

No excuses!

Oh, this is going to be fun. :D

I don't have any suggestions other than getting the Elite and some wireless controllers/charger, but hurry your **** up so we can get you in some games.

You said Xbox so I will keep this short.

    No fanboy here.

PS3 online gaming is free. Bluray player. No Ring of death.

Someone posts a thread CLEARLY asking about buying an XBOX and you post the "Buy a PS3" crap...and in the same breath say 'not a fanboy'. Wow...

I recommend the Elite cause 20gb from the pro model just isn't enough.

I did not knock the xbox and say the PS3 was better! He said that he was going to put this in his home theater. He doesn't have his equipment listed in his signature. So I offer up Bluray and the fact that he won't have to pay for playing on line. Short and sweet!

    Thanks,

    Steve

If you get a newer one make sure it has the 65nm chip set for cooler operation. I believe all of the new systems that come bundled with the two games and say go something have it as well as the quieter drive. Look for the most recent build date you can find, lot 738 or higher, and lower power consumption. You can also physically inspect the unit to determine which chipset it has, but they would have to let you open the box.

I got a Elite w/Falcon motherboard and Ben-q drive on Black Friday.

C'mon, are you even surprised by this **** anymore? haha :D

All you can really do is laugh at how stupid it is. It seems there are always going to be a few who insist on creating some kind of "war" out of it -- meanwhile the rest of us either don't care or own both. It's been exactly the same with the Blu-Ray & HD-DVD threads.

    Live is a must
Earpiece with mic is a near must
Get at least the premium unit
Wireless controllers are the only way to go.
Halo 3 is outstanding, but I say Gears is still the best game on the 360.

the starter pack of sam's club comes with two wireless controller, 2 mics, 1 rechargable batt pack, and premium unit with component cable. fyi.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Get the Elite (preferably from some place with a liberal exchange period in the event of RROD). I use the official wireless controllers. They work very well. Get one of the battery recharging stations too. I also like having the messenger keyboard for typing. When you set up your Live account, just sign up for silver at first, then it will offer you a free month of gold. Buy MS points online rather than in store, unless there is a crazy deal (no tax). Also you should buy Rock Band. :)
