What cables does a typical Onkyo say 605 or 705 usually come with? I'm considering a refurb and just wondering is left out since it says no cables. I realize many times the cables are included anyways, but just in case...

Typically an antenna, and maybe a calibration mic.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
    Ben

    Standard includes with the 705:
Remote, 3 batteries, FM inodoor antenna, AM Loop Antenna, Calibration Mic, Cable Labels, Termination Tool.

If you get the 605, make sure you get the firmware update. It's plastered all over thier pages so it must be an important one.

Also, the 605 & 705 have different calibration methods (Audyssey 2EQ vs. Audyssey MultEQ XT). So, make sure you get the correct mic for the one you get. My guess is it will come with the calibration mic.

    From the Audyssy Folks....
    Is the microphone calibrated?
Yes, the microphone is calibrated to a 1/4" industry-standard measurement microphone. The correction is applied to the measurements as they are being taken. It is important to use ONLY the designated microphone that comes with the product as the calibration curve built-in to the product is specific to that microphone. It is also critical to point the microphone upwards and to place it at ear height. Any other microphone will have different characteristics and thus will not produce the right results.

You could always use an SPL meter and do it manually.

I did it!! Watching their site and picked up a refurb 705 for $467 after taxes (was thinking I'd be tax free d'oh). Still $130 cheaper than Amazon's lowest price I've seen. At $160 cheaper (no tax) it's a no brainer to me. At $130 I wonder if I should cancel the order or just go ahead with the refurb?

Congrats, I think you'll get fine usage out of the 705. Plus it has the pre outs so you can use an external amp should decide too in the future.

Thanks, can't wait to get it all hooked up. I haven't had a chance to listen to my Polks, still waiting on the Bic Sub and Rti-4's in the mail plus my wires and cables. Now I'm ordering a mount for the center channel too, all told 7 different shipments...it will be worth it the first time I get to actually power it up!! Going to get a HD-DVR tomorrow since it's the only thing they have at my cable company with HDMI hookups. I've read the DVI connector doesn't work as good. Thing I just have to hook everything up and run the calibration / let the speakers get broken in...yep I'm hooked.
