This guy has 2 prs of SDA-SRS's for sale, he is in Orange, CA. I looked at them yesterday, he'll take $1200 for both pairs, or $700 for one pair, if anybody is interested.
http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/ele/570813976.html
They are a somewhat beat, but could be refreshed and would make a good project. He is missing the IC cables, some sun/water damage on the bottom oak of one pr, drywall mud/dirt on the grills, at least one speaker has a blown tweeter.
They are Orig SDA-SRS, solid oak top and bottom, 13 screws on x-over panel, they appear to be pin/blade (I only checked the back of 1 pr)
Structurally, they are sound, grill frames are good, headlocks are not broken.

In the right pic they look like SL3000's and if they are Pin/Blade they most likely are tl's ( At least one pair anyways ) ....Hmmmm Any chance of you getting pics ???The first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club -
I inspected them quite closely. The tweeters have a clear dome-with a metal look beneath the dome, and they did not say "Polk silver coil" on them. Does this make them SL-3000's?
The 13 screws on the crossover plate includes ALL of the screw heads that are exposed, not just the ones that mount the plate to the cabinet.
The oak is definately solid, not veneer over MDF. The oak is fairly beat, and slightly warped.
Since I do not have a compendium, I'm just going by whatever info I can find with the search function.
I work about 8 miles from this guy's house.
If someone SERIOUSLY wants them, I would be happy to assist since I am local.
I'm heading over to take some pics.
Both pairs were purchased at the same time, so they are virtually the same. -
SL2000 tweeters have two lines of black caulk on either side of the dome, plus "Polk Audio" "Silver Coil Dome" in straight lettering. SL3000 tweeters have no caulk and "Polk Audio" in a repeating circle around the dome.

Those tweeters sure don't look like SL2000's, but the crossover in the 1.2 TL's have 9 screws in total.
In any case, that seems like a good deal, all depending on condition._________________________________________________

He responded in an email that he would take $1200/$700 so it wasn't exactly out of my ****.....Now that everyone is calling/emailing him, he's back to his orig $$.
Solid wood tops/bottoms, SL-3000 tweeters, the one we pulled out was dated 1990, MW6511 dated 1988 (pulled one of those also)
Someone is coming up from San Diego right now, so they may be gone shortly.
I'll post additional pics in a few minutes.
Here is the email:
Scott,
Thanks, I would take $700 for one pair or $1200 for both.
Let me know if this is acceptable.

Pics attached.
He is cleaning them up (oiling the Oak, cleaning the grill cloth with water) for the San Diego Guy.
The oiled top with the wet grill cloth is from a pr and the bottom is from the other pr. Notice the Solid Oak.
The rest of the speakers are, well, "uneventful" If you've seen one....
The pic of the bottom oak is the worst of all 4. -

Did he say he changed the tweeters, or maybe these are early prototype TL's?_________________________________________________

Seeing as the dim 6.5's are 6511's dated 1988 ( Actual speaker prob sold in 90 or 91 ...the SL3000's were dated 1990) ...they are prob the real deal tl's. He bought them new together as 2 pairs. The first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club -
They have lots of fasteners on the x-over plate and solid oak end caps.....I thought veneered MDF started with the non-TL 1.2s?

They did. However, Polk has been known to use up parts from a previous model version before switching over to the new version. That would explain a pair of 1.2's having solid oak end caps. I have also seen 1.2's with the 13 bolt SRS crossover plate.
The only size difference between the SRS end caps and the 1.2/1.2TL end caps is that the SRS end caps are 1/16th inch wider. The depth and thickness are the same.
If a pair of 1.2TL's has solid oak end caps and 13 bolt crossover plates, this, along with the pin/blade interconnect cable, strongly suggests that it is a pair of 1.2's that was upgraded to the 1.2TL configuration. Just after the introduction of the 1.2TL, Polk began selling a conversion kit for the 1.2 that consisted of the TL tweeters, TL version crossovers, wiring harnesses, and back braces (bass braces).Proud and loyal citizen of the Digital Domain and Solid State Country!
