RTI Bookshelf Speaker on Sale @ Fry's

The RTi4s are the speakers on sale at Fry's - can't edit the title.

These speakers are huge and cannot be mounted on the wall for rear fill like I thought.

Ya, they don't show them at all on-line.

But they still have the RTi8's in Cherry for $149. I'm surprised they haven't sold those out!! That's a great deal!

If that's for a pair (like bookshelves usually are), it's a great price no matter which one it is. I think I'll pick a pair for my friends HT that I'm putting together.

Unfortunately that must be the store only, I've been stalking their site for the Rti-4's since I find out last night the company I ordered from doesn't actually have any. If someone is going to Fry's anyway and wants to make a couple bucks via Paypal let me know!! I need Cherry, looks like I might get them on the Ebay though.

Yep, no RTi's on sale on their Irving location. Pair of R300's for $98 and RSM6570 (or something like that) for $199.

Thanks for checking. I'm not far from there and considered checking it out.

I did get my RTi8's today. Got them playing now letting them break in, if that's what I'm doing. I noticed the CSi A6 sounded better after using it for a few hours, same with the FXi3's. Maybe I should start a thread on speaker break in. I can't find anything in print from Polk on how to, how not to, time frame etc.

Break in is not BS it's necessary for quality speakers. The driver suspension is stiff and needs to loosen to achieve the maximum performance. The cables can and do make a difference so much so it can be heard by someone with a discerning ear.

Where was the word BS ever used describing speaker break in? Maybe it's 90 per cent your ears and 10 per cent your speaker breaking in.

Whether the word "BS" was ever used is irrelavant, the final word from a Polk engineer is that break in is real and cables do matter. No 90/10 hedging by the engineer. Do you by chance work for in the audio industry as an engineer and have a qualified opinion to offer?

If a Polk engineer says it's so then it must be.Many of these audio myths are perfectly tailored to the obsessive compulsive audio geek.And I fully admit to being one of them but over the years I've learned that many of the audio scams such as super expensive cable etc and other audio fairy tales are just that.Fairy tales.

I've never spent the time required to do a double blind A/B audio cable test, but I have upgraded video cables. I certainly have seen noticeable differences in PQ with different cables.

We got them down here in Atlanta....picked them up today in black and also a csi3 in black. As many have read...all I can say is WOW!

Believe what you want, but its no fairy tale, I've seen people right here on this forum bi-wire, bi-amp and spend hundreds of $$$ on cables every month since I've been here.;)

OK, here's an honest question. What good does very expensive speaker wire do when if you were to take your speakers apart you would find basic generic wiring inside.As you would inside your receiver also.So if one end has generic wiring and the other end has generic wiring then why put heavy expensive wire between?

I think it has to do with those being a few inches vs. 10, 20, 30 ft. With that being said I'm not going to go with ultra low gage, 16 should be fine for my surrounds of 30 ft at 8 ohms. Front's will only have about 6 or 8 ft of run.
