Were my RTi6s overkill

Ok,
So I am finally setting everything up and as I began hanging my RTi6s on the back wall for surround, it occured to me, perhaps it was a bit overkill.
I have been reading a lot of other threads that say the fxi line is better for surround for HT vs the rti4 but what about compared to the rti6.
Any thoughts. what would you change to, I am still on the fence about which Back surrounds to pick up just running the 5 channel right now..

Please explain something to me. What is overkill? I do not understand this concept.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

I guess from a cost to benefit ratio with diminished return... I dont know much about this hi fi stuff. I came on this board looking for advise to upgrade from a bose 5 cube system on a 10 year old kenwood receiver. Sure I have a lot more base...but is there any audible difference to having the rti6 as my surround vs the fxi 5.. It seems the rti4 is not considered as good as the fxi5 for that purpose... i was thinking about the rti4 for the back surround, or another set of rti6 but now maybe the fxi5 makes sense... just feeling confused or overwhelmed... maybe I am just experiencing shell shock from the amp test i just did using the D-day beach landing scene of saving private ryanRti10 front, csi5, Rti6 surrounds, PSW505, B&K200.7s2, Onkyo705.

You're fine, worry about something else.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Yeah you're good. You have a nice setup. Jealous of that B&K 200.7. I have had my eye on that amp for awhile.Silversmoky

I love that scene. In my old paradigm set up I had 2 of their 2200 self powered subs in this room that was like 12x16 man that was awesome all of the walls and ceiling were insulated and I loved that room. When the waves would crash you would feel like you were there and the bullets, you thought they were wizzing over your head!
Then the now x wife decided it was time to move. Ahhhh...
I think overkill is the when you don't harmonically match sounds, technically it is called timber matching. I think that is most common with massive subs and bookshelf fronts. JMO I am not in the business. -
