Does anyone know how the Rti10s sound better with or with being biwired?
I have 120 watts going to each one so would it even be worth it to do it?
Thanks -Drake

bi wiring is inexpensive enough.. so give er a try... maybe it will be worth it to you.. if not.. you're not out much but a couple feet of extra speaker wire.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

BTW, welcome to CP and I'm curious. Where in the heck did you come up with a user name like that?~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
Maybe he's a jazz musician?I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

assuming you understand the difference between bi-WIRED and bi-AMPED, here's my take on it, as well as a few well-informed articles floating around on the web.
bi-wiring does NOT improve many, if any properties of a given speaker.
bi-amping on the other hand is quite the subjective matter. different people say different things, but i can tell you that when i decided to hook my rti-8's up via bi-amping, that it made a noticeable difference in the soundstage and imaging than just "hookin' dem up." so i would try it, and see, every system is different, as is every environment. good luck, i hope it makes a difference!:oAt Home:

I am assuming you are running a receiver at 120wpc. You would be better off getting decent wires than Bi-wiring.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

I was able to bi-amp my RTi10's by using the UNused Surround L/R inputs on my receiver, and...WOW. They sound a LOT better! Your receiver has to have the option for that in order for it to work though."Dr Dunn admitted that his research could also be interpreted as evidence that women are shallower than men. I'm bi-amping my RTi8's since I'm not using the rear surrounds just yet. That's also what the Onkyo 805 is set up to use if you are going to bi-amp and do 5.1 or less.
I hope they'll sound even better.- Onkyo TX-SR805

Dont want to hijack your thread but can someone explain what you guys mean by bi-amping.
My understanding was that bi-amping means hookin up one speaker to two amps but it seems that some of you hook the same speaker with two different channels of the same receiver
Is there some improvement in sound by hookin up my RTi8's through two different channels of my receiver instead of bi-wiring? -
Bi-Amping can mean having one input on the speaker going into your receiver, and one into your amp.
Or if your receiver is able, you can plug one cable into the top plugs on the speaker, and one cable into the bottom plugs. Then wire one into (Front L/R for example) and the other on into an UNUSED spot (in my case Surround L/R).
It's not as good as using a separate amp, but it does help."Dr Dunn admitted that his research could also be interpreted as evidence that women are shallower than men. My receiver has 7.1 capabilities and also has another channel (channel so instead of biwiring my rti8 i can hook up the top plugs through channel A and the bottom plugs through channel B or my unused surround back and remove the jumper on the speaker?

yes (the rest of this sentence is thanks to polk's 4-word minimum per post)"Dr Dunn admitted that his research could also be interpreted as evidence that women are shallower than men. I will give it a try, thanks.

Can you do that? I think you must have the receiver to do that (like onkyo 805) and tell your receiver that you are driving LF of the speakers with main output and HF with L/R back surround. I don't think you should do that with A/B main channel output. Am I right??? -
If it's the A/B on the receiver, then probably not. I believe it has to actually be a different channel altogether."Dr Dunn admitted that his research could also be interpreted as evidence that women are shallower than men. You kinda caught my attention and now worried because I've been running my speakers this way now for almost a week. Will this damage my speakers?
I Know most believe that passive bi-amping results in no gain but I noticed a small but real gain hookin up my speakers this way. If your running a powerfull receiver it might not be worth it but it seems that I gained a few extra needed db as my receiver only puts out 75 watts/channel. -
