I was reading though a few threads and it seems the Outlaw Audio Model 200 Amplifier may be a resonable choice for an amp. One for each of my 12's?
Quite new to this but going to do some more reading. -
Welcome Jason.
Yes the Outlaws will do just fine for your 12's.
Some don't find any benefit from biamping, especially from a receiver since it is all coming from the same power source.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -

Thanks alot cfrizz, I'am just starting to get into this world, and I got to say there is a lot more to this than I thought. Always willing to learn though.
I read in another post not to turn your volume up past half way on your reciever until you get an amp, so not to damage your speakers. Thats the last thing I want to do, I see amps out there that are like 85W, 100W per channel, ect... So if you buy a reciever thats 130W per channel, aren't they able to deliever more power than a seprate amp?
I was thinking of buying the Onkyo TX-SR805 reciever and two Outlaw Audio Model 200 Amplifiers. Would this be a resonable setup for my speakers? Any suggestions would be appricated
Thanks -
Congratulations on the rti12's. These are still some of my favorite speakers. A receivers power compared to a seperate amps power doesn't really match up. AVR's are designed to do alot of different things, such as signal processing AND then to power the speakers too. A seperate amp is designed to one thing - to power the speakers. They generally have much bigger and better components in them designed to provide clean power. rti 12's really do sound much better with separate amplification of around 200 watts per channel. I think your setup you are thinking about with the 805 and Outlaw 200's would be a nice setup to start with.Silversmoky

That's the setup I use for my RTi10's, only I added another Outlaw mono for the center (CSi3)
You will like it.Onkyo 805

I have another basic question. When using the Outlaw Amp for each front speaker I guess you don't bi-amp them(i.g take the jumpers off the speakers)? With that reciever you have to give up the rear surronds to bi-amp.
Thanks -
I have the outlaws running the front three speakers, and have biwired cables so i'ev taken the jumpers out.If you have single wires you leave the jumpers in or use speaker wire to keep conected. As long as th reciever has preouts for all chanels you will be open to power everything later. Most everyone will tell you to forget biamping with the reciever. But try what you like and have fun.:DRTi12's:D

"I read in another post not to turn your volume up past half way on your reciever until you get an amp, so not to damage your speakers"
Where did you read that?
Is that true?
Thanks -
Jason, you will be feeding the speakers 200wpc, there is no need to bi-amp.
Parachute, it is strongly recommended that you not turn it past the halfway point, because of the potential damage that you may cause to either your receiver or speakers.
And if you get separate amplification of sufficeint wattage, you wouldn't want to go that loud since, you will probably do damage to your hearing! Thanks guys
