I would like to know your epinion on my new room configuration. I dont know what to put as rear channel, wich color and where to hang them..
The room is 14' x 13,3'. Planning on buying RTI A7 front, csi A6 center. Rear will be Fxi A4 or Fxi A6 or inwall...
Floor will be natural color birch wood. Furniture will be brown leather sofa.
First question, where to hang the Fxi ? on side (grey triangles) or behind the seating position (orange triangles) ? Wich FXI ? Wich color is nice? I was thinking or White FXI and cherry RTI A7 combo. The black speakers in my light shaded room makes me think about it. What about inwall to match the RTi, wich one to choose ?
Wich configuration will give me the best sound ? I have a big opening to the dining room and a big windows the other side of the room. I only have a small sidewall beside the den opening (grey triangle) and the backwall is very close for rebound sound.
Check uploaded picture here. The second is a drawing I've done.
thanks for your epinion. Yellow colored items are the front channels.

what do you think will look/sound best ?
-
Well, for starters, I would move the back couch away from the back wall. Even if only 18" or so, it will help with the sound from the front stage, and it will look better, even if it seems a little strange at first. Then, I would experiment with the placements of the surrounds.....and , whatever you decide is best, just make sure you mount them a couple feet above your head at listening position.B&W 804s mains

I was thinking installing the rear channels 1 foot above my head, so it will not be too low when I'm standing in the room.
Is it difficult to install inwall speaker on a external isolated wall ? -
You really need to consider just spending a day moving the speakers and funiture in all the different locations possible. Get some boxes to locate the speakers up high if needed.
Also consider having some beer a pizza there.
Have a blast. -
Don't know about the installation on the isolated wall, but I'm sure Polk customer service can advise you on that. By the way, you have a nice looking room there.B&W 804s mains

good idea Bikezappa, but I first must decide what to put as surround speakers and wich color ! Also is it better to use the FXI as DIPOLE OR BIPOLE ?
I decided to keep my Yamaha htr-5960 receiver and use RTI A7 front instead of the LSI 15. That way I can invest in good surround speakers and center instead on power amplifiers.
Thanks john for you comments! The house is not ready yet.
I dont even know what subwoofer I will use.... No info on DSW subs here compared to the psw505 ? -
Take your time and assume nothing about placement until you use your ears.

I think the orange FXI speaker configuration will give the best sound but I'm not sure about that..
In the Grey configuration, the lower left speaker is far away from the seating position compared to the right speaker. -
I would change the couch to the front and center wall, and utilize that entire wall where the large couch is for your system and front channels. Just switch it around. It should make for a much better front soundstage, by using the wall with no openings. Thats how I would do it if it would work. I can't tell by the pics. Enjoy your new room, I'm jealous......Steve

Blue Static you are right !
I was thinking of dooing that but my girlfriend dont want this... I said we might be able to see the tv from the dining room like that but She insist....
Putting the speaker on the large wall ( large couch) will give more space for furniture and subwoofer. It will also sound better because the rear wall is isolated.
hummm..if only she read you comments.. check this out :

hey guys this Thread is not finished yet !
I need your opinions on the color too !!
Is buying white rear speaker a mistake ?
IS mixing white and cherry is ok in my room ?
Is black more easy to resale after ?
