I am loving my FXI-3's to date. Since my speaker placement on the back wall wasn't going to be ideal, I felt safer with the more expansive sound of the FXI-3's. Those A4's are a steal for the price right now (still $250?) I'd go ahead and drop the $$ on them, but there are others here with much more experience, so you'll probably want to wait on their input...

I have been running my fxi A4's for about 4 weeks and love em to death. They really do a good job in Dipolar mode but i currently have them in Bipolar just to see how I like it. Either way I think I got more bang for my buck than i could have hoped for.

Yeah I would definitely grab the fxi a4's over the rti 4's for surround. I have played around with both (well fxi5's, but pretty close:)) I liked the fxi5's much better than the rti4's. Much broader sound makes them much better for home theater especially.

Are the Fxi A4s properly matched to the previous Rti line or would one be better off with the Fxi3?

Either FXi model would work fine.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I wish they'd make it in Cherry to go with the rest of my speakers, might consider picking these up in the future anyway.

I noticed you have the Csi3 which is matched to the Rti4 and Rti6 on polks website. I guess going between Rti and Rti A is not a problem but they recommend the Csi5 for the bipole/dipoles.

I wish we had Fry's here, great price. I can't seem to find them anywhere now in Cherry.

I'd go with the Fxi A4s, or try and find the Fxi 5s at a discounted price (possibly amazon.com, etc.) for your 5.1 setup.

If you want to move to a 7.1 setup in the future, these fxi's will make nice L/R surrounds and then you can add a good set of directionals (like rti4s, etc.) for your back surrounds. I believe thx specification recommends it this way.

It's the way my setup is going to be at least.

I have the fxi5s now and they're nice. I don't think you'll be disappointed with them.

(Also, amazon.com has great service. my rti6 noticed was damaged and simply sent an email to them regarding the problem and they shipped me a new pair the next day or two later. All thru email communication and shipping of new speakers and return shipping of damaged speakers was paid for by amazon.)

I'm the high bidder on the ebay one. I bought through the second but they are out, guess they haven't removed it yet. I'm just going to keep watch on the bay, was hoping to have all ready and up on Monday but will have to wait.

It made me nervous I wouldn't have a complete set, I almost cancelled the Rti-8's before speaking to someone to "make sure" they had the Rti-4 in stock first (different company). Oh well, I'm sure they'll turn up new eventually. Maybe I'll get lucky on the one's I'm bidding on :)
