Placing subwoofer rm6880

I just bought a RM 6880 HT speakers set. The subwoofer is to wide (23 5/8" W) and does not fit into the area I want to place it. Could it be posible to place el subwoofer on one of its side (moving the feet) so that the new wide is its current heigh (15 3/4"), with neither deteriorating the sound nor having the risk of damaging the subwoofer?

    I would say no. Don't put the sub on it's side man.
