Sony SCD-C2000ES CD Changer – Black – 9/10 - *SOLD* to Gadabout

I bought this with plans to hot-rod it while my SCD-C555ES was acting funny. Plans changed and I have an esoteric store demo that I’m borrowing for the next few weeks, so there’s no real reason to worry about it anymore. I think the older 555ES is more robust in regards to build quality and design but sonically, stock, they sound very similar if not dead on.

It’s new with ultra low hours…try about 4 hours playtime total. It’s in perfect condition. It has outputs for everything including multi-channel. The connections have been treated with CAIG Pro-Gold and it’s packed to withstand an atomic blast.

If you want, I'll dynamat the entire chassis for an extra $30. I do very nice work under the hood.

This is from Sony:

Enjoy a true-to-life listening experience with the SCD-C2000ES/B CD changer. It features include a Time Alignment Function for optimum SA-CD playback1, 5-disc SA-CD/CD changer with multi-channel audio output, so your music sound better for longer. The SCD-C2000ES/B combines convenience and functionality making it the perfect choice for your home audio system.

This Sony is a much better player; the ES line is top notch. That Marantz might compare with the regular Sony players.

The shipping is free for the US only, which is usually standard my advertisments. Are you overseas?

I haven't heard that particular Marantz model, only the high end Marantz so I can't say if it's better. Both manufacturers make quality gear but Sony ES is not the generic lineup.

I live in missouri. And im really interested in your cd player. Im planning on buying one in the next week. I want the best quality player I can buy. I was looking to spend around 200 so your price seems right. I would rather buy a slightly used player than a refurbished. Is there any cosmetic damage to this player?

Doro's sales are straight up, but I guess you could figure that out from his 181 positive sales ratings.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.

Doro, how does this unit compare to the Rotel changer you have? I don't really need another SACD player. I'm am looking for something with a shuffle function however. Lastly, and what is probably a silly question, how much sound quality does one give up using a changer opposed to a single tray player? Thanks.

Cubdog - The SonyES is practically brand new and it has more features and playback capability. The Rotel is fairly straightforward mechanically and sonically I don't think it has an obvious edge over the Sony. I also have all the original stuff for the Sony but only the remote control for the Rotel. That matters to some folks.

You're no giving up anything as this is the same transport mechanism used in the single tray ES units, as well as the same Sony DAC architecture. If you're talking about this player vs a CA 840, for example, sure you will probably have a difference in sonics but you have to get up in price to figure that out.

I love the convenience of a changer and had my SCD-C555ES modified by SACDmods.com. It's my personal benchmark and the unit I use when I'm in between other players. The 2000ES has an amazing modification done by a company called Tube Research Labs, and it's been getting some buzz. I've heard a couple different units modified by them, on some generic Sony SACD players and they are VERY nice. I believe they offer a couple levels, much like the rest of the places but are the only ones that mod the SCD-C2000ES at this time.

So, you have options to get crazy with it, if you wanted to do so.....with not much of an investment. Let me know if you have any additional questions or comments and I'll be happy to answer them.
