Hi,
I have been having a noise problem with my monica2 and decided to make a better power supply to use for trouble shooting. I had a transformer from I think a bose wave radio. That and a rectifier, and two 6800 uf electrolytic caps in super E configuration w/ 0.1uf Auricap for bypass and hooked it up. It has 15.8v output. Sounds much better than the wall wort I was using before. Bass is cleaner, louder when needed. Imaging is better, strings of a guitar more noticable, claps easier to hear. Better dynamics. I wonder how long it will take for the caps to burn in? Too bad it didnt fix the noise problem. If I touch or twist the pcb a bad crackling, or scratching sound will come and go. I can mess with it and make the noise louder or quieter, sometimes. It is sensitive to temp, on warm up is when I first notice it. At least it is normal most of the time. Any ideas? I have emailed Yeo at diyparadise and I probable will get a monica3 and ditch the monica2. I am tired of messing with it. I will give it a couple of days and decide then. Theres a pic.
