I am the original owner of a pair of SDA-SRS speakers. They are in perfect condition. I bought them while stationed at Camp Zama Japan. They were brought into our small PX and put on demonstration to promote Polks SDA line. They were not on display very long. Within 1 week I had discovered and purchased them. $2153.00 and worth every penny.

Prior to discovering these speakers I was a big JBL fan. Starting with the Century L-100s and moving on to the L-150s and finally the truncated pyramids known as the L-250 Ti. I was always looking for a better speaker. That all stopped when I discovered these Polks. 21 years I still feel no need to switch. I have auditioned various esoteric and ultra expensive electrostatic speakers but am happy with the Polks.

I purchased these speakers in September 1987. Serial numbers are:
R-SDA-SRS-3903
L-SDA-SRS-3422

Any Polkologists out there who can tell me which years these were actually produced? Is it unusual to have the L and R numbers differing by this much?

Can anyone with a Polk Compendium tell me production numbers by year for the SDA-SRS series ? (i.e how many SRS speakers produced each year, 1985-1991). I discovered the existence of the Compendium too late to get one.

Thanks for your help!

The easiest way to find out is to pull one of the mid-bass drivers and look at the date on the back. It's either hand written on the sticker or stamped in ink.

No, it's not unusual to have different model numbers. It's more unusual to have consecutive model numbers.

Actual SDA production numbers are proprietary to Polk Audio and no physical records of serial numbers exists.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
