Projector Screen Recommendations

I was wondering if any of those with a front projection system could point me in the right direction as to what kind of screens I should be looking for.

Earlier today I ordered the Sanyo PLV-Z2000 and I am looking for a screen to go with it. I have heard it is best to look for a screen to designed to counteract the shortcoming of the projector. So I guess since it is an LCD based unit I should be looking for one that will help with the black levels.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Personally, my Z2000 doesn't have any shortcomings as far as black levels. I'm running it on a Da-Lite 92" high-contrast matte white and get really good blacks and excellent shadow detail. Sadly, I don't recommend the Da-Lite I have, because it has a texture that interferes with the pixel grid thrown by the Z2000, resulting in a nasty moire effect. I'm looking at replacing it with an EliteScreens 100" soon, though I'm trying to get samples from Elite to determine whether to use their MaxWhite or SilverGray screen.

If you really want to make that Z2000 look its best, hit the Z2000 tweaks thread here. Look for my tweaks (under the name Jeremy Anderson) and you should be happy.

Carada is the SVS of Screens, I'd go for the Criterion Model with the thicker frame, in the BW material which will offer you tons of "pop". After that should you choose to spend more money, look into Stewart, though many compare the Stewart ST130 to Carada's material. Should you choose to do anything over 150 inches, I'd look into Da-lite HP(Hi Power screens) however the cone of view is narrow with these screens. So check out the Carada, you can shoot them an email for samples as well. I love mine, even though I've only looked at it once since my new room is in progress.

Ask louiethewiz. He can point you in the right direction. He knows quite a bit about screens.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

Awesome, thank you such much for your invaluable info gents! I will look into all of your recommendations!

It is also good to hear that another user here is running the Z2000. What do you think of yours, kuntasensei? It really seems to be one of the best bang for your buck 1080p units out there. I absolutely cannot wait for it to arrive. I will also make sure to look over your settings once I have mine set up!

    Thanks again!

The Z2000 is fantastic. I couldn't be happier with the purchase. I didn't expect to be blown away by the step up from my previous Z3, but the increase in resolution and contrast ratio put the Z3 to shame. The minute you get some 1080p material on that thing, any buyer's remorse you might have had will go out the window.
