    Those margins don't seem to be out of line. Most retail stuff is typically marked up 40% - 60%. That's why you can find great deals by buying direct (i.e., via on-line e-tailers, for example).

    It's good product management. They charge that much because they can. Companies exist to make money. If they didn't sell any cables, they wouldn't charge that much.

    Many cables have that mark up. AQ is about the same.
    The real issue is value for the money. Shop around.
    Wait and pounce on used cables in the flea market.
    Look for closeouts. My AQ's were 60-75% off when Magnolia
    dropped the product line.

    As long as BestBuy keeps spewing their garbage, Monster will continue to do very well for themselves.
    It doesn't bother me at all. The people who do the research save the money, people who don't...well don't. It's not like the information isn't out there.

    You guy's don't think everything you buy is marked up like that? From cables,avr's,Cd's,stands,TV's,and not just electronics.Though I am far from a monster fan,you have to make a profit to stay in buisness.I mean,look at bottled water,if you do your research real hard:rolleyes: you can get the same thing out of your kitchen faucet for pennies.

    Interesting. Recently I was at a discount clearance store and they were selling a Monster Cable VCR hook up kit on clearance for $ 19.95. I figured what the heck and bought it.

    I was surprised that when I brought it home and opened it up; the kit contained the Interlink 250 interconnects and a separate Video 2 composite cable all for $ 20. A week later at an audio store the same cabling priced individual as “A” stock was over $ 80 combined.

    Not that I needed any more cabling around the house, but it was a good buy just the same.

    We have a surplus store here and it's where I used to buy all my cables , from Monster to AR Pro II and Master series. AR Master component was about 29$

    Mark-ups remond me of this joke...a guy looking for action goes in to a building known for it's working ladies (joke has been edited for forum). He sees a sign on a door, if you want to get screwed slide 10$ under the door. So he does. He waits and nothing, then, another note comes from under the door, if you want to get screwed again, pass another 10$.
