onkyo 805 and rockband

I just bought an onkyo 805 about a week ago and already i'm having a problem.I am experiencing a major timing problem no with the game rockband.With my old receiver I use to run hdmi straight to tv with optical to receiver.Now its hdmi to the receiver then to the tv.I know there are calebration tools with rockband and also delay adjustment on the 805 but i'm having a hard time trying to get it.It shouldn't be this difficult.Everything else on the 805 is great, but I fear it's back to the store if the problem persists.Any suggestions?

I would calibrate the game, Im almost sure the settings in the game are incorrect. Play around with them, and see what you get.

go to the options menu and calibrate the timeing in the game.
