Demiurge's "Good Samaritans" thread motivated me to share...
I had my refreshing glimpse into the good side of people today as well. I teach, and my school was closed today, so I stayed home with our boys. When I went to pick up my 4yr old from his preschool, I was running a bit behind, and was struggling to get my 1-yr old out of the car, as I parked next to a snowdrift. A lady in the car in front of me popped out and offered to stay there to keep an eye on him so I could hurry in--I was so grateful.
When I got ready to roll out of there, I was pulling away and noticed a car struggling to leave its parking spot (on ice/small hill), so I threw it into park, hopped out and pushed her out, and we both were on our way.
Before heading home, I stopped at McD's to get a fish sandwich, and when I got up to the window, the cashier said "The car in front of you paid for your meal, pull up to the next window." I have no idea who that person was! No one was behind me, or I would have passed it along.
Helped my mood the rest of the day--Wish this sort of thing happened more often. Actually, the way you guys (and gals) look out for each other here at CP is one of the things that keeps me coming back here. (Well, that and my hope for an opportunity to buy Sal's left 1.2 from RANDOM SHOUTING PEOPLE)
May good karma find you!

Good stuff. When I got home last night I was peaking out of my window (I live downtown) and saw some random people walking push a car that was stuck making a right hand turn onto another street. It's just little stuff like that. Normally you just see people walk right on by.

Thats awesome, often times if I buy a soft drink from a machine, I will leave the coins in there, so the next person will have a free drink. Never know, it may enlighten someones day. That's just cool. Sometimes you don't have to be in need. It's the random kindnesses that are really awesome.

That sounds like a TV commercial I saw recently!"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." George Orwell

There's lots of good people out there, we just tend to focus on the negative.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

I think there are good people out there as well, maybe just too afraid to stop or lend a hand sometimes.Michael

Bingo! I've stopped to do a good deed on occaision just to have the ungrateful SOB be rude & obnoxious to me! So now I tend to just walk on by & let someone else take the hit. Thanks for your replies, everyone.
I think a lot of us consider ourselves to be "nice people," but I know that sometimes I can get so wrapped up in my own worries (big and small) that I forget to think about how I can affect other people in a positive way--sometimes all it takes is a genuine smile to bring a person to a better place.
So when one of you offers someone here a set of ICs, or a speaker grille to replace a damaged one, you're doing me a solid too.

I read an article once about how "being nice" generally makes you happier.

That happen to me last year. I come to a toll booth, & the toll taker(?) informs me that the guy in front payed my fair. I get to the next toll, do the same thing to whoever was behind me. I was laughing the whole way home.I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!
