Rti10's harsh highs
How would those of you with Rti10s describe their highs when driven by a good amp or receiver? I'm driving mine with an Onkyo 505, which is the bottom of their latest line, and I find the highs even at moderate levels very harsh with a lot of sibilance (sp?). Any thoughts?

a good powerful amp or receiver can make a big difference.... even lower end speaker models benefit quite a bit from a more powerful or better receiver than a bottom of the line one.
also Onkyo receivers have been known to be a bit bright with Polk speakers... you are not the first one to bring this up with that particular modle of Onkyo. maybe the Onkyo receiver is better suited for differnet speakers.. maybe more along the line of the Polk monitors instead. just a thought.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Well, I'm assuming you have your bass/treble controls set at flat? Maybe try 11 o-clock on the treble.
What you might try is breaking them in. Put a CD you think would be good in the player, set it to repeat over and over. Set your volume at around medium, then go to work. Do that for about three or four days.
Many have said their RTi series mellowed a lot going from something like an Onkyo to a H/K AVR series. YMMV -
Thought this subject looked familiar. Try the trebel control by all means but you may want to look at your source.

I had the same problem with my RTi12's...I changed out speaker wire with some Signal Cable Ultra wire and the over bearing brightness has disappeared.
Still have crystal clear highs but not the harshness.
