power cord upgrade

Could someone point me in the direction of a good power cord debate thread. I'm sure it's been beat to death on here but can't seem to find much. I am tossing the idea of putting an aftermarket cord on my Anthem amp as I noticed that the stock one is thinner than the cord on my DVD player.

A good power cable is essential. I just replaced all of mine with Signal Cable power cables and I'm very happy. I believe that a good, thick, quality PC is all that is needed. No special voodoo or high dollar power cables are needed. -

C'mon now, everybody knows outlets don't make a difference. -

Funny, I actually did change the wall receptacle, removing the original contractors cheap outlet that came with the house and installed a $5 heavy duty version made by Cooper available at Lowe's. Additionally, changed all of them on the same breaker, using the upgraded $2 Cooper's on the non HT outlets. The gold outlet is a nice touch for the no holds barred system.

Its filtered(ferrite choke), but is not shielded. $150 for the PE gold plated outlet is nuts.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. I think this is the first cable thread that has not been besieged by people who yell out "CABLES DON"T MATTER!!!" It is kind of refreshing.
-
Wait. Cables don't matter?
It is refreshing.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -

I tried out a pair of 22k gold cables on my system. They sounded like pure gold.:p
Seriously. Very refined and delicate sounding. Not sure what platinum would sound like, though.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

I agree Ben, $150 for the gold plated outlet to hook up to household Romex is nuts. I did try one of those 14ga cords from ebay and felt it was a nice improvement over the OEM cable. I'm pretty lucky, no hum or static that I can hear when operating the system.[ -
I built a really nice cable for my mains amp a few years ago using all Wattgate connectors, 20 amp IEC on the amp and and 15 amp NEMA for the wall. I used some really top quality wire I had from when I used to work for Audioprism about 12 years ago. I noticed an ever so slight difference.
Then I ran 4 sets of #10 THHN stranded wire that I had twisted in metal conduit over to my breaker box (about 80' run of wire) and installed 4 new 30 amp breakers in the box and put a double duplex receptical behind the equipment with 20 Amp Hubble duplex outlets, one circuit on each plug.... This took 2 days... And made a very good improvement.... I can't reccomend upgrading your wiring from your breaker box to your equipment enough....www.forceaudio.com .... We cut through the BS. -
