My 2ch rig...

Well, I figured I would share my 2ch rig, I just got done listening to some music, and I still think 2ch is the way to go....

I'm running a set of mains I designed and built using Focal 8V416Js and Ceretec 1 3/16" Ceramic domes. 1st order Series crossovers w/8 awg inductors and some nice caps. Subs are custom built RE Audio XXX18" drivers in large vented boxes tuned real low. Power for the mains is from a scratch built 100 wpc solid state amp (bottom left) and an Acurus A250 is handling the subs right now. Outlaw ICBM on the subs with an Adcom Preamp, cheap CD player that sounds good.... I built the rack to match the speakers.... It weighs 300 lbs by itself...

I shipped all this stuff to Germany where I live now, it sounds great in my new house. I think I'll pick up another A250 and run one on each sub soon enough and maybe build a tube preamp. That and get a decent CD/DVD player... But hell, sound is incredible already.... Picture doesn't do the system justice...

Last year I completely rebuilt a set of SDA SRSs..... I guess that makes me Polk worthy???

I can't believe you made all that stuff! Absolutely gorgeous stuff man. I love the look. What kind of tweeter is that you are using?

Pictures don't move, sub cabinets are almost 400lbs each and don't vibrate. I used to have a pair of 2.8Kw amps on the subs, and they didn't move the pictures then either...

Yep, those are our wedding photos, it may be my system, but still the wife's room...

Tweeter is from Accuton, or Ceretc. It is supposed to be one of the best dynamic tweeters ever made. Ceramic dome, 350Hz Fs, and response well past 20Khz on axis...

    No.

But I worked for Audioprism for 5 years as head production manager (I built everything) Until I joined the Air Force in 97'. I have been a Radio Technician on Active Duty ever since. My wife and I live in Germany now and I still enjoy building audio..

I have been at it a long time. I've built a least 200 speakers/subs and a so many amps/preamps/crossovers/power supplies I lost count.... It is an addicting hobby to say the least...

I really like this site, you guys have some decent down to earth threads. Forceaudio is my site, I own it, much smaller site though...

I made some posts on here a while back, but was deployed for a long time, now I am back into the swing of things...

Amen....damn nice looking setup and the fact that you can build your own stuff just lends even more to the fun of it all.

    Thanks for the comments!

I have been here in Germany for almost 5 months now and not found anyone else into audio really. There are a few guys into Car Stereo, I have already worked on some gear for them, but no strictly 2ch or even H/T guys...

Very impressive! Must admit that I'm quite jealous of your building abilities. One of my worst regrets is not sticking with the circuitry classes I was taking in college. I really enjoyed them, but was too anxious to get to work, and therefore went the way of the "future" where we just replace entire boards instead of chasing down component level issues. Oh well. Hind-sight...blah blah blah.

Anyway congrats on a great looking system! Glad you're enjoying it.
